Do you have a back-up that dates from before the problem occurred?

If so, did you try to remove TB! with something like Revo Uninstaller?

Re: New mail ticker problem with 5.0.10.1

2011-05-03 Thread Martin Schoch
Hi Martin

It's getting worse with this problem - now in version 5.0.12. I had
the same situation - the mail ticker didn't close though there was no
unread message.

Then I wanted to close TheBat! but I got an error window and after
clicking "OK" TheBat! freezes totally - had to kill it with Task
Manager.

It's not that bad, IMO, other programs behave just like that. I tried once to
have TB do that before, but I couldn't find a way.

I regret my no confirmation. If the thread it's collapsed the entire

So you are trying to mark numerous threads as read when they are collapsed. You
can do that easily when they are selected as you have done by just selecting
Mark as Read instead of Mark Thread as read, or use Ctrl+M.

A plea to the devleopers of this once great program

2011-05-03 Thread Tony Hoare
Hello Maxim, Stephan and all,

Please spend some time on filters and virtual folders. These are the
USP of the program, IMHO. If these features are broken, then TheBat!
becomes just like all the other email clients.

If TheBat! is like all the other email clients, then I can save many
hours of my day just getting on with my real business without the
missing features.

I shudder to think how much time this beta cycle has cost us all here
in testing, checking and reporting the same problem release after
release.

It's a bit like the John Cleese film, Clockwise: 'It's not the

can confirm for this version, don't know about earlier. I did a search
with an after date, and nothing happened. when unticked it, got
search for whole time as would expect. It included 8 which should have

I marked some messages in the middle of a thread unread, then marked the
first few in another in similar fashion. Went back and unmarked in the
middle of the one, then back and successfully marked the other read.
Is this what you mean. When you say several unread threads, does it
mark the first 'finite number' then fail on 'finite number'+1, or just
for 'random number' then 'random number'+1. I don't have a clear
picture of your problem.

The images came through.

I just tested Gene's mail using Windows Live Mail and I see the image. As Tony said, some MUA are more forgiving, from what you say, TB!4.x is more forgiving as well.

Is this a bug or a feature though?

You should try TB!v4.x. I see his message and an attachment called

Hm. How about the problems with filters not working or virtual folders

gave that a try (IMAP box), result: message to be sent is not sent but
only stored in "Drafts" folder, dialog not disappearing at all.
Pushing "save" did save also, but dialog still not disappearing.
"Cancel" brought editing window back, as expected - but not closing
the dialog window on sending and not sending the mail is not a way it
should work.

Went back to working 4.2.44 therefore, as a mail program not sending

A virtual folder has gone missing. This has quite a complex filter
and just did not appear after .12 installation. I reverted to 5.0.10.1
but the VF have gone. :-(

Then I notice that an IMAP folder was also missing. Then more. I used
Manage IMAP folders to see that they were still there on the server.
Exit folder manager and my whole account tree became reordered, mostly
aphabetical but not completely (old bug)

I also have a local folder with the same same as one of the lost IMAP
folders. This local folder has 3 messages that should be in the IMAP
folder.

The rediscovered folders have very many messages (one has 44,000) and
TB is still reloading the cache. Has the cache format changed or
something?

VF depending of the missing IMAP folder are out of date, of course.
and have to update even though some of the caches are up to date.

Oh, and the viewmodes the new folders was reverted to default rather
than my custom views.

NOT A RECOMMENDED UPDATE.

I'm really annoyed about the virtual folder. :-(

I just got these exceptions while composing this email:

Virtual Folder and Change in Properties of Advanced Filtering

2011-05-03 Thread RS
Hi,

Might be my mistake but tried it at least a couple of times before
posting.

I created Virtual Folder (VF) filtered by a sender - worked great.
After a while I wanted to change an e-mail address I used for
filtering (that property is accessible for editing so it should
work).

Didn't work - no matter what's written there VF is always filtered by
the originally used e-mail address.

If you delete all conditions it's still there filtered by original
conditions. Tried to add as well a new conditions to existing VF
(added age condition for instance) but it didn't re-filter the Folder
at all.

I think it's a bug - otherwise there is no point to have this cells
editable if conditions change are not taken into action and existing
VF is not re-filtered accordingly to new/added/changed conditions.

Me too. Thanks for the confirmation Simon. I guess this is another
example of Outlook taking a tolerant view of the structure of the
messages. I believe in the old days that the inline uuencoded block
was an acceptable attachment. Certainly before MIME.

I do see this a lot from various senders so it would be great if TB
could handle this ONE DAY. I understand there are a lot more important
issues for now.

In the past you could navigate from oldest to newest even in collapsed

Since 2 or 3 builds back deleting the first message in a thread
deletes the whole thread [formerly you needed a modifier key to do
