Thanks Thomas; all new messages have now downloaded without problem.
If the problem was a malformed HTML message would this have occurred?

I've now tried with and without View Modes; doesn't work either way.
"Some" changes in settings from one folder are "sometimes" adopted by
other folders. Sometimes the settings switch to a View Mode when none
was selected before. It's a mess.

To clarify, is Generic View Mode a set of preferences that can be
applied to any folder, the same as a new View Mode you might set up?

Also, the names of View Modes often don't show in the menus or in the
Manage View Modes window (please see attached screenshots).

Any help or comfort appreciated.:-)

Now I have. No change.

None of the changes I make in Message List Columns, whether it is one
change or a combination, sticks. And I am unable to view message
folders in any mode but threaded by reference.

I just tried saving message column layouts and threading preferences

If there is something corrupt in my installation of 3.62.14, can you

Message List Columns

2005-11-10 Thread P.Johnson
When I make changes to Message List Columns and click OK, leave the
folder and return to it later, the changes have not stuck.

This was addressed by Ron Secord's bug report:
https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=5142

...the status there seems to be "verify wait" (though under Issue
History it says: "Fixed in Version => 3.62.1"). I'm not clear what
"Verify wait" means?

Also, when View, View threads by -- "None" is selected, upon return to
the folder the messages are threaded by reference. I reported this in
an earlier message:

Under View, Global View Mode, I have it set to (No view mode).

This is more than an annoyance. Until the bugs are actually fixed, can
any of you good people suggest a workaround?

I've never used the View Mode options. For each folder I've set the
columns I want, indicated how I want them listed (by date created, in
my case) and selected View Threads by Reference. These settings always
"stuck", until now. Now it's an adventure every time I open up a
folder. Sometimes they are threaded for the first time, without my
making any such setting. Sometimes they are grouped with oldest at the
top, or at the bottom. It seems random.

But I am experimenting now with View Modes. Thanks for your help.

And in case it's not obvious, I'm not an expert and run trial versions

2005-02-10 Thread P.Johnson
Hello,

There is also a Spam folder in the same account, and certain emails
end up there, even though they are not marked as spam by K9. For

What or who is doing this filtering, if not K9? I have no other spam

Thanks in advance.

I don't think so, Alexander. I have the Operation Mode set to "Open

I think earlier posts identified BayesFilter, as opposed to BayesIt,

I dread the thought of a "clean install" almost as much as the jump to

Yes, I am using Bayes Filter (never even tried BayesIt as so many
others seemed to have problems with it). Bayes Filter seems to work
just fine so far, and worked well on my old system. I'm among the many
fans of Achim Winkler who think Ritlabs should enable a plugin for BF.

Mary what I may end up doing, if I don't jump to another mail program,
is installing my old hard drive into my new machine as a back up, but
will keep the OS and maybe run TB! from there, if it isn't too
impractical to do so.

That's exactly what was happening to me with v3.0.1.33 when I
transferred TB! to a new computer; I hoped the bug had been resolved
in this beta. But today the Connection Centre is "hanging" again,
without downloading all messages.

I am also using BayesFilter, but was doing so on my old computer with
no CC hang or download problems. Could it be a BF/SP2 problem?

JO> I have my "connection center" dialog set to automatically show and

And it is still "open"-- you probably can't shut down TB! without
resorting to the Task Manager.

Along with the hang, TB! will also leave messages on the server for
days (even though I specified otherwise in account properties), but
will download mulitiples of other messages. Very frustrating.
...
JO> Is everyone experiencing this problem using BF, or any plugin for that

JO> Might be worth checking into...

The CC hang doesn't occur every time I check for messages, just *some
of the time, which might make it hard to track. But I would certainly
be willing to see if there is a difference when BF is disabled.

I meant open the executable file from my rar folder. Sorry I wasn't

It seems it was a pretty simple problem relating to shortcuts, which I
have corrected as you'll see in my reply to Martin.

Thanks for your help!

As long as I don't close and reopen after the install, I have the use

TB! betas won't stick

2004-11-23 Thread P.Johnson
Hello,

I am attempting to install the latest TB! beta release over 3.0.1.33
(Home)-- but the beta won't stick-- it reverts back to 3.0.1.33 when I
close and relaunch.

Any ideas? I did check the archives but could find nothing that
applied here.

I have crept over to this group from TBUDL --not an advanced user but
enjoy The Bat! very much (when it works :-) )-- and look forward to
getting to know you all better.
