I just tried to forward an HTML email with embedded links to pictures. The way
I was able to view the pics was by opening the message.html file in the
browser. I could not forward, reply or redirect the message and save the links
- in all cases they were gone

I was able to drag the message into outlook express and forward it successfully

I had to reboot for reasons that had nothing to do with the Bat and with no
other changes, the blocks are gone and all names appear correctly.

They do. Using one of the ones with the name showing correctly as a reference,
only the last octet differs on most of the others and on one it is completely
different. She uses Gmail if that matters

This came through a Yahoo group. In the header the subject appears:

Subject: -:CTS:- =?iso-8859-1?Q?_Novo_Kit_-_Valentine=B4s_Day_-_Blog_Train?=

It appears in the message: -:CTS:- Novo Kit - Valentine´s Day - Blog Train

The point is, they are the same name. It displays it for several messages then
as blocks for several messages. An examination of the headers shows that she is
using the same account, same name/alias and sent out within a minute or so yet

The first time this issue has appeared has been in this release 4.1.11.2. The
same person is forwarding emails. Her name appears correctly in some, and in a
few as blocks. Yes that usually indicates character set issues but should that
be showing in the message list?

She lives in the US, uses Outlook Express and I have never seen this behavior
before.

Virtual folder will not hold check marks to select certain accounts/Folders

2009-01-05 Thread Rick
Virtual folder will not hold check marks to select certain accounts, yet
apparently the information that they were selected is retained somewhere.
In my case I have an account "Google Rgrun1" that WILL retain a check in the
outbox and one "Google GROUPMAIL" that will not. This is instantly repeatable.
Add the check, close the properties and go right back in and the checkmark for
that account's outbox is gone (or any other check box for that matter)

Yet when at certain times when the folder would appear empty and require a
refresh to see the files, it now shows the files in "Google GROUPMAIL" and a
refresh will make them disappear.

What can I say? I have become a Ritlabs automaton. They say "PAY!" and
my hand proceeds jerkily towards my wallet. They issue a new version
and I yet again craft an "up and running" prose complete with all my
system information for their perusal. My free will is gone. [sigh]

HTML Editor issues

2008-12-16 Thread Rick
When using the HTML editor it continues typing to the right and
scrolling left. This has been fixed before and keeps breaking

I think I see what might be the problem. Replies are in a table of
sorts and if the reply is several levels deep it gets wider and wider
thus creating a horizontal scroll bar. I am thinking this has
something to do with it

It is annoying. A typed message should wrap within the confines of the
editor window I should think.

I left the Bat and ended up coming back. I share some links in groups
and use Outlook Express for that since I can copy pictures and words
with underlying links from web pages and paste them into emails and
they will work which the bat cannot do at this point. Also OE can
embed sounds

When Ritlabs starts working on that part of the HTML editor I will get
very interested but I am certainly not going to get abusive because it
does not currently have those particular features. It has so much
more.

Well Mozilla has bountiful forums in which to complain. My tongue was
firmly planted in my cheek when I posted that BTW :))

There was supposed to be an upgrade fee for v4 and they pushed it back
to v4.1. We are discussing bugs in a BETA forum (list) and people are
complaining that the release is buggy. Uh .. YEAH!

IF you don't want to deal with bugs, unsub from the beta list and go
back to the last stable release, or Thunderbird, or Pocomail or
whatever blows your dress up. Don't just stay here and toss out
disheartening comments to the Ritlabs developers who are working as
hard as they can to make it the best product out there. It not only

Sure - but Ritlabs isn't "filling their pockets" and they have been
very open about the upgrade policy for a long time

And the product is still buggy? Uh ... YEAH! this is a beta list. 2

Grow up! You are on a beta list. That means you are beta TESTING. That
means bugs are to be EXPECTED.

They have been VERY UPFRONT about the way the licensing was going to
work.

Either accept it and realize they are doing what they said they would
do (and gave you a lot more while coming to this point!) Or go back a
version, quit the beta list and wait until 4.1 is officially released

had not prompted for an ok for .27. A reboot fixed it. It was so

I just put .27 back in and a test message failed again. It is from ANY
account. This is repeatable with this alpha and definitely a show
stopper. As I go to close The Bat, the folder compression seems to
hang with a semi-blank window and I have to close the bat from the
task manager - again repeatable.

In message editor remebering dimensions for new table doesn't stick

2008-11-17 Thread Rick
When composing a new message I created a new table of 2 columns and 1 row

Format / Table / New

I checked
"Remember dimensions for new table" That doesn't stick.

The next time I created a message and tried entering a table it was
back to the defaults.

Confirm anyone?
