NFS: contact filtering
Hello TBBETA, hi 9val, I made a suggestion in February about filtering mails to/from contacts in a powerful manner. See the thread around mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (in TBUDL). I'll paste this specific message, but the context in what it had been written is important - AFAIR ;) -8 dh it would be best to have an input box beside the put in subfolder dh checkbox that will allow to set the subfolder's name, filled by dh default with the AB group name for whole AB groups subfolders and the dh AB display name for single contacts. So that subfolders can be defined on all three levels (AB, group, contact). Then, when items are checked/defined, the filter order should be: contact, group, AB. Once a match is found, filtering should stop. Exactly. There must also be some way to assign the parent folder. That could be simply done with radio buttons: root (Known folder), AB folder, group folder. - For ABs its root (no radio buttons). - For AB groups and Contacts without a group there are root and AB folder choices Default should be AB for groups/groupless contacts and group for contacts. To make make it visible: subfolder -name where (root/AB/group folder) x [x] AB 1 *AB1 x [x] GROUP 1*G1( )(x) [x] contact 1 [x]A ( )( )(x) [x] contact 2 [x]B ( )(x)( ) [x] contact 3 [x]C (x)( )( ) [x] contact 4 [ ]D ( )( )(x) [x] contact 5 [ ]E ( )(x)( ) [x] contact 6 [ ]F (x)( )( ) x [x] GROUP 2*G2(x)( ) [x] contact 7 [x]G ( )( )(x) [x] contact 8 [x]H ( )(x)( ) [x] contact 9 [x]I (x)( )( ) [x] contact 10 [ ]J ( )( )(x) [x] contact 11 [x]K ( )(x) [x] contact 12 [x]L (x)( ) [x] contact 13 [ ]M ( )(x) [x] contact 14 [ ]N (x)( ) 1 2 3 4 (explanations below) Here goes a table what would happen with each contact, hope that I haven't messed it up: contact goes to subfolder x of \Known 1\AB1\G1\A 2\AB1\B 3\C 4\AB1\G1 (subfolder unchecked) 5\AB1 6\ 7\G2\G 8\AB1\H 9\I 10 \G2(no subfolder, group folder is at root) 11 \AB1\K 12 \L 13 \AB1 14 \ ... should be quite clear... ;) For the checkboxes: 1: check for The groups checkbox toggles whole group on/off (the contacts checkboxes). Despite this, checking a group has no effect (because every contact is below - other than AB entries that have no group - see contact 11-14). 2: move to subfolder Default is off. Checking activates the name input box. *: checkbox that toggles contact's checkboxes below. 3: name of subfolder defaults to (AB|group|contacts) display name. 4: where to put subfolder quite obvious.. :) Hope the concept is clear, seems a bit confusing and because of its power it has to be implemented easy to use and understand. I hope it goes along with the long-wished-and-hopefully-well-planned filter system that's going to be implemented these days. -8 -- shinE! Re: Virtual Folder bugs (was: Vritual Folder)
Hello bats, on Fri, 26. Mar 2004 at 23:17:31 +0100 Peter Palmreuther wrote: I just had a virtual folder saying 46 unread out of 15 total messages. Somehow wired. Did not saw this yet, but happened also with someone else, IIRC. Additionally I tried to display only messages with a defined color group from all in all 6 folders and got not a single one shown. Then I performed a search, created a new virtual folder from there and expected the search result from now on being shown in this virtual folder ... I failed. Confirmed. Virtual folders by colour group don't seem to work. Adding Size is greater than 0K as a condition will result in 6.830 out of a search result with 1014 found messages. I searched for size 0 and colour group is green in TBBETA and SPAM. Got 1014 results in the Message Finder, which were all mails from SPAM, because I use the green colour group to mark submitted messages. The created virtual folder contains 6.830 messages (38 unread), which are all from TBBETA. My TBBETA folder actually holds 6.857 messages in total (27 more than in the VF), with 19 unread. After I moved the VF just below the TBBETA folder to compare what could be missing, the Unread count of the VF was cutted to zero, but it still included unread mails. I then did Folder -- Refresh, which took a few seconds and CPU went to the roof. Just thought that TB is instantly looping now, but the VF refreshed. It now shows 19 unread, but 7871 messages in total. That are 1014 more than in TBBETA. Doing another refresh I now have 38 unread again, with still 7871 total. Another refresh (the last one, promise ;)) results in 7871 total, 57 unread. So can anybody a little more elaborate on how virtual folders should be used correctly to make them /real/ useful? I get the impression I did not get the correct idea on how they are expected to work, yet. You seem to get the correct idea, but TB cannot handle it yet.. :) -- shinE! http://www.thequod.de ICQ#152282665 GnuPG/PGP key: http://thequod.de/danielhahler.asc Using The Bat! v2.05 Beta/12 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1 with POPFile 0.21.1 and avast Mar2004 (4.1.357). ZW Many template macros you can find in this page: ZW http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/Library.html I just tried the boxquote from there, but it shuts thebat! instantly down - without an error. I had it shared with other accounts and enabled for mass mailing, but tested it on a mail on this list. The way %COMMENT works has changed in v2 MDP and the new versions of the macros were published a couple of months MDP ago here. But since v2 is not yet out of beta, the library is still MDP housing the v1 versions of the macros. ok. But nevertheless, the other behaviour of %COMMENT should not lead v2 to simply crash. -- shinE! S/MIME is indeed enabled in Privacy Options, but has been since I started using PGP 8.02 a few days ago. I wonder why it worked before, as I never dealt with S/MIME certificates.. -- shinE!
