Re: 10.4.0.17 gives me error of wrong CEF version on Windows 10 / same with 10.5 over 10.4.0.17
I have an explanation of the immediate effect in the meantime: there seems to be a mix-up between install folders. To my, displeasure, since several versions TheBat! seems to install into two folders: program files and localProfile/TheBat. (Why are these two locations used anyway?) Now, regarding CEF, there were two sources present: - program files/CEF had the version 103.0.12.0 - local profile had 1.2 GB worths of different versions (isn't that getting cleaned - waste-of-space-wise?), one of them the current one, 117.1.5.0 But TheBat! 10.5 seemed to only regard the program files/CEF location where the old one was present. When deleted, no CEF would be found. I had to manually copy the current CEF from local profile into the program files/CEF path. Which CEF location should TheBat! regard or prefer - and why is there the entire big historic collection in the local profile if it's not being used? Thank you, best regards Viktor , Donnerstag, 5. I didn't know there was a calendar and when I went looking for it, I can see where it might hide and while I don't use calendars, I guess it might be useful for it to remember birthdays and the like in my most used program where I might not miss the notifications, something I commonly do! BUT, fix the editor first. I certainly don't care about a calendar when I keep wondering if there is some other email tool I could use that would actually work as promised A barely working editor is a really serious, almost fatal flaw in what is otherwise a quite remarkable program. It's been broken for well over a year, through 2 upgrades I recall, it needs to be the most important thing to be fixed. FWIW, I stopped recommending The Bat or even letting my customers upgrade from their current version as I don't need people whining about the formatting of their emails getting messed up. -- Ira 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Division by Zero error
Hello Alex. New information on the calender app in The Bat and the divide by zero errors. I have been playing around with this over the weekend with no success until tonight. I have an appointment tomorrow so decided to add it to the calender to see if I had found a way around the error. I input everything as normal just as I had been doing since day one and the only change I made was with the notify me before and I chose 1 hour instead of 1 day and walla it entered. I have an appointment on the 9th so I input that and wanted to have a reminder a day in advance and no chance divide by zero but if I put 1 hour before it accepts it no questions. The error is in the length of time before an appointment anything a day and over it has divide by zero anything less than 24 hours, wonder if I can get away with 24 hours and not 1 day? OK, I put in 24 hours and it accepted it without question. The error is in the day format somewhere mate I have been through all my configuration files and can't find anything so I suspect it is in the actual calendar part of the program. I hope this is of some help for you to trace the error which is still there if I try to enter a day it goes divide by zero. I can enter 24 hours and it's just fine I wonder if it has anything to do with the times of my appointments being sort of mid morning to mid day then asking it to notify me 1 day in advance? I will leave it with you Alex, my wife's laptop is exactly the same, different hardware and a lot of different software but the same divide by zero issues, I will try her laptop in the morning she is using it at present but I suspect it will be the same. After I sent this, I found the reason for the problem: The spell checker. It was set to "no language" because I never used it in the past. I set it to English for a message in German, and of course it complained. When I clicked on "Ignore all" it continued to check... This error still pops up every (!) time I put a message into the Outbox, plain-text or HTML. I downloaded the current Alpha 9.3.4 "full" version. Since nobody else seems to experience it, I want to uninstall and reinstall TheBat. I don't want to lose my mails, and a .tbk would be about 100GB - I don't have that extra space. If I uninstall and reinstall, will the message bases be deleted, or will the new install find the existing message files easily? How about the settings for my well over 100 folders? My idea is to make a .tbk without the messages, just the settings. If I take the tick-mark off "[ ] Folders with Messages", the message bases won't be backed up, but how about the folder tree and the settings (including templates)? -- Cheers, Thomas. Re: Error message when starting TheBat!
Hello Cees, > I have absolutely no idea where to look for those index files and what they > are called. - Find out where your Message Base (Mail directory) is located. Look in Options/Preferences/System. - Using Windows Explorer look into the Mail Directory, you should have a folder per each of the accounts you use plus a few others. - Inside the Account folder, you should see the folders you see in TB folder tree. - Each of these folders should include two files. One is called MESSAGES.TBB and that contains the actual messages. And a MESSAGES.TBN index file. Any other files will probably be old Index files. Feel free to delete them. If you happen to delete the .TBN file, don't worry. The proper actual index file will be rebuilt next time you start TB. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Urech (Zarzalejo (Madrid) - Spain) Using The Bat! System error when returning to Classic after Alt-Tabbing
Hello all, I was trying to reproduce the "Problem when Alt-Tabbing" reported in TBUDL. I use Classic and usually do not change theme unless I I want to test something reported by others. In this case I changed to Choco Dark and I Alt-Tabbed a couple of times to another app and returned to TB. I have two Windows partitions on this computer, both Win 10. Update 1709 won't install on one, Spring update won't install on the other. I get to 81% complete, then hang. Updating from Win 7 to 10 had exactly the same problem. I solved that one by installing 10 from a dvd. Of course my AMD 6 core cpu is now approaching dinosaurhood. I refuse to replace hardware that works just fine. Anyway, I don't think we can expect more from Rit in the face of this chaos than the valiant effort which I am sure they perform daily. > Kind regards, > Guus > > Current beta is 8.3.0.8 | 'Using TBBETA' information: > http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html -- Gleason Current beta is 8.3.0.8 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Over 100, 000 batXXXX.tmp files in TEMP causing "message not properly addressed" error
Hello all, Sorry for x-posting to TBUDL and TBBeta (although not a beta issue), but I think it may be of interest to all, or in case anyone has experienced some similar. A couple of days ago I started to get this "message not properly addressed" error when trying to send a msg. I would get it when trying to send to any address and from any account (all POP). I could receive, although downloading was noticeably slow. When clicking send from Editor window, it took a few 'moments' to close. Then the Connection Centre would pop-up saying "Composing.." (for 1, maybe 2, seconds) and then I would get the error. As I said above, trying to send to any address and from any of my accounts. I re-started TB several times, re-booted my system, but I would still get the error. I 'Repaired' TB installation and nothing. Uninstalled completely, 'cleaned' the Registry, did a fresh install and... problem still there. Since I could not send mail, the only way to ask for help was opening a Support ticket [TID#75335] but, so far, I have not heard back from them. Slow reception and the error (after re-installing, etc.) when sending made me think that maybe there was something "external" affecting TB. I don't know why but I decided to look in TEMP directory (C:\Users\Miguel\AppData\Local\Temp) where I found well over 100,000 (yes, well over one hundred thousand) 'bat.tmp' 0 byte files. All from the same day and with time stamps within 5 minutes (16:46 to 16:52). I decided to delete them all, and 'voila', I could again send email with no problem and downloading was again as fast as usual. The questions now are: 1.- What in the world made The Bat! create such an amount of 0 byte .tmp files in 5 minutes? 2.- Why this amount of files made TB generate the error of message "not being properly addressed"? "Stream write error" in status line but not in account log
Hello TBBETA, Just experienced subj - the status line said about this on some file in TB appdata folder. Since the message was trunctaed and the status line doesn't have any tooltips, I can never even say which file it was. -- Best regards, Ivan mailto:v...@mail.mipt.ru 5.3.8.6 (BETA) on Windows XP Current beta is 5.3.8.7 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
5.3.8.4 Error deleting tabs
I will create a tab by entering an email address in the search box and hitting ENTER When I am done, I delete that tab. When I go back to the ALL tab, I get the following AV This was in the last beta also https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=155 --- The Bat! --- Access violation at address 00C45122 in module 'thebat.exe'. Read of address 00F0. --- OK --- -- Rick We spend roughly $3000 for every American each year on the U.S. military. There is a theory that the reason for this is that the military-industrial complex controls our foreign policy, in much the same way that the medical-industrial complex controls our health policy, and Wall Street’s money-industrial complex controls our economic policy.
