Yes, it is not...

There seems to be too many settings affecting this. If I have
synchronize set to sync all messages, headers and text, then there is no
need to download anything in you example.

According the the IMAP RFC (3501)

.4.Autologout Timer

If a server has an inactivity autologout timer, the duration of that
timer MUST be at least 30 minutes. The receipt of ANY command from
the client during that interval SHOULD suffice to reset the
  autologout timer.

Hello Stuart,

Try one more thing for me:

Lets say, you are stuck, i.e. cannot auto disconnect.

1. Click on an already read/downloaded mail, at me it shows up as a
bluish envelope. At me, TB! does not auto disconnect at this time, as
it does not have to connect to the IMAP server to get the mail.

2. Click on an non downloaded mail, at me it shows up as a grayish
envelope. At me, TB! DOES auto disconnect at this time, as
it has to connect to the IMAP server to get the mail.

Maybe this auto disconnect thing is IMAP server dependent...

I did the same... Mine does not disconnect the 2nd time. I have to
manually disconnect and go to Properties, OK, THEN good unread numbers
and disconnect at the first time, second time: no auto disconnect...

What is set on your IMAP fine tune window? I have only the "Use
precise counters" checked, nothing else.

And at you?

Yes I can confirm what you are seeing.

Further to this when I first tried this I had mine setup as in the
attached screenshot. In this case it did not matter what I did it
would not fetch the correct number of unread mails. It would however
disconnect after 5 seconds every time.

IMAP users: auto disconnect

2005-07-08 Thread Vili
Hello tbbeta,

I have a pattern about successful/unsuccessful auto disconnect with
IMAP, please read it and please confirm it for me.

IMAP Account, Properties, Mail management: Auto disconnect after 5
secs.

See attached pic.

I have 10 unread mail in my Inbox, and when I first start TB!:

>7/9/2005, 05:02:42: IMAP - 1: Connected to IMAP server (mail.easymail.hu)
>7/9/2005, 05:02:43: IMAP - 1: Logged on as "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
>7/9/2005, 05:02:43: IMAP - 1: The folder "INBOX" selected. 0 recent, 10 unread
>out of 375 total messages

So, that 10 unread can be seen and...

>7/9/2005, 05:02:49: IMAP - 1: Idle timeout - logging out
>7/9/2005, 05:02:49: IMAP - 1: Session finished

.. and TB! disconnect automatically!

When I click on my Inbox again:

>7/9/2005, 05:03:38: IMAP - 1: Connected to IMAP server (mail.easymail.hu)
>7/9/2005, 05:03:38: IMAP - 1: Logged on as "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
>7/9/2005, 05:03:39: IMAP - 1: The folder "INBOX" selected. 0 recent, 0 unread
>out of 375 total messages

...wrong number of unread mails... and NO auto disconnect.

Now I disconnect manually. I go to Account, Properties and close the
window without changing anything by two different ways:

1: by pressing OK:

>7/9/2005, 05:10:48: IMAP - 1: Connected to IMAP server (mail.easymail.hu)
>7/9/2005, 05:10:49: IMAP - 1: Logged on as "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
>7/9/2005, 05:10:49: IMAP - 1: The folder "INBOX" selected. 0 recent, 10 unread
>out of 375 total messages
>7/9/2005, 05:10:55: IMAP - 1: Idle timeout - logging out
>7/9/2005, 05:10:56: IMAP - 1: Session finished

You see? Perfect number of unreads and automatic disconnect works!

2. by pressing Cancel:

>7/9/2005, 05:11:18: IMAP - 1: Connected to IMAP server (mail.easymail.hu)
>7/9/2005, 05:11:19: IMAP - 1: Logged on as "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
>7/9/2005, 05:11:19: IMAP - 1: The folder "INBOX" selected. 0 recent, 0 unread
>out of 375 total messages

Wrong number of unread mails and NO auto disconnect...

So, something is reset or set when you open and close the Properties
window with the OK button (if you are connected, you have to manually
disconnect before you try it). After this, IMAP works fine at the
first time, and after it losing something... :((

Confirms?
