Re: 2.13 beta 4: New filtering system does partial filterind
On Thursday, August 12, 2004 it appears that Dierk Haasis wrote the following in regards to 2.13 beta 4: New filtering system does partial filterind: Yeah, really. I don't get it. Have many others resorted to re-writing all their filters? It's ridiculous for RIT Labs to expect that -- beta or no beta. DH No. Neither did they expect us (at least I hope) nor is it too DH far-fetched for beta testing. Now, *this* beta cycle is specifically DH to test out the new filter system. If anybody expects a complete and DH perfect system, I'd find that a bit delusional. Hello Dierk. I'm too old to be delusional about a piece of software -- politics, honesty, wars, yes -- but not software. I can't speak for everyone but I, for one, did not expect a complete perfect system. If so, it would not be a beta, right? I've been around for a couple of TB! years, thru a # of beta cycles -- some better than others. That's not the issue for me otherwise I wouldn't bother d/l betas. I don't care if I'm the first on my block with the latest version. What bothers me here is that the filter conversion seems to be working sometimes under certain conditions for some but not for others there hasn't been much consolidation of information for what works what doesn't which leaves me with the feeling that it's a true mish mash no one has been able to get their arms around it. It's like a patchwork quilt, not much rhyme or reason. I could certainly be wrong it's genuinely possible I just can't see the forest for the trees , if that's the case, I hope you'll educate me in that regard. I realize there are a lot of variables exponential combinations but I followed the directions, i.e. |-| Begin |-| New filtering system is one of the major goals of current beta cycle. It is not fully implemented yet, but everybody risky enough can toggle it on in account settings. It should automatically convert current filters to new system. Known issues: 1. Before starting program kill all .srb files (new filtering options) which can be created by earlier versions. It should be enough to get converted most of your filters 2. There is a problem with KNOWN filter - it converts invalidly now 3. Only basic action work now, but situation will change 4. It can work wrong on IMAP (yet) |--| End |--| and even so, I can find no pattern nor have I read anything about a pattern nor is anyone keeping track of the problems to my knowledge to see if patterns develop so this is a useless exercise from my pov as I cannot use the new filtering system nor can I really help debug it in any meaningful way still maintain some semblance of a daily work flow. Im not following you, what do you mean? select filter, hit Ctrl+C for copying source of filter into clipboard, then use Ctrl+V for pasting source into message editor. -- Bye Marek Mikus Czech support of The Bat! http://www.thebat.cz Using the best The Bat! 2.13 Lucky Beta/1 under Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1 Notebook Acer, Pentium4-M 2.2 GHz, 512 MB RAM, ADSL line Current beta is 2.13 'Lucky' Beta/1 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

ST The new filtering system is being prepared, there is quite an ST amount of job to be done there, but there is still a hope that it ST will be announced soon. You may test the interface by ST Ctrl+Shift+Alt+T I can open it using announced shortcut. I can have a look at the conditions, actions and options. Some conditions need some tweaking (e.g. 'Target folder' could utilize a drop down or any other kind of folder selection, as typing all the paths is quite tedious). This isn't the first time they've half done a user interface like that ;) The IMAP folder management was the same way, it's likely to come along later I'd guess. But there are two big bugs: 1. If I select one of my accounts the current filters are not imported, i.e. applied to the list of filters, for being able how real filter would look like in this management system without rebuilding all of them. I wouldn't call this a bug, but a lack of an enhancement. Hopefully part of the plans are to support importing of the old filters. It would be good if they'd implemented it in this one so we can truly compare the results, and make sure (at least UI wise) that the imports went well. 2. As soon as I select one of the categories the right side (tabbed panel displaying General, Actions and Options) is hidden. No way to make it appear again other than closing the window and reopening it, of course with the effect I'll never ever be able to have a look at existing filters and their reincarnation or to see potential differences in actions or conditions depending on the category chosen on the left. Confirmed, along with the New (such as new filter, new sub filter etc) options all vanished, then shortly afterwards, and the categories (Incoming/Sent/etc) all vanished too. 3. Changing account causes an access violation for me. I only have IMAP accounts. -- Jonathan Angliss ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) If anyone has seen a flying tank please contact us. Hello Prezes, Thursday, March 11, 2004, 17:58 you wrote at mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] 1. Could you implement common filters - this filters should work in all accounts, priority of this filter will be lower than account own filter or defined by user in Preferences? This is a old wish. I thought that wish is the reason for the new sorting office, but, do new one doesn't support this indispensably feature (yet).
