Yes I can confirm what you are seeing.

Further  to  this  when  I first tried this I had mine setup as in the
attached  screenshot.  In  this  case  it did not matter what I did it
would  not  fetch the correct number of unread mails. It would however
disconnect after 5 seconds every time.

What  I  meant  was  that  the  disconnect command is sent to the IMAP
server,  but  my  server does not accept it for some reason, i.e. does
not answer, while in Stuart case, that does answer...


I too have had variable responses with this and TB! It is not consistent, 
and sometimes will work and sometimes not. Conversely, I also have had 
quick disconnects from the IMAP server for no apparent reason, with no 
input from me; it will just disconnect.. all other clients I use work fine. 
:(



However, I tested on two servers :)))


It is not the server fault as you probably surmised. :)
