together the lines below:

No ... Sorry, but I can't more disagree.
Your #1 would be translated to TB!: stop using it. Nobody told this is
 a solution for slow startups.
#2 will be: use TB! on 4GHz Pentium-VII of your neighbor ... you would
not tell me somebody suggested something similar, wouldn't you?
#3 #4 skipped for being obvious wrong.

 A better comparison will be:

Nope, that's not what I meant.

TB! used to work blazingly fast, in its early days, even with large
message bases.
Due to latest additions - RTV, mostly - it started to slow down. I just
want it to run as fast as it always did, or even faster if possible. Not
slower (unless it's indeed the message base size is the cause).

LOL! The first TB version I ever downloaded would have fit onto a
single floppy disk. :-)

AH For me TheBat! take too much time to start, I don't want a new

IMHO, if it takes long time to start, there is few ways to resolve
 this issue:
 1. remove all junk messages you might have
 2. upgrade your harddrive to faster (ie 7200rpm, 1rpm, 15000rpm)
 3. try de-fragmenting harddrive

I'm just reinstalling everything, so things are still pretty clean,
but I have more than 30,000 messages in seven accounts and about 100
to 150 folders, and TB! opens in under 3 seconds. If that is slow to
you, I'd sure like to know what word processor and spread sheet you
are using which opens at a rate you like. The bat seems lightning fast
to me.

Re: SmartPad get out.

2002-01-20 Thread Peter Palmreuther

Hello MaXxX,

On Monday, January 21, 2002 at 1:32:28 AM you wrote (at least in
part):

M What you've just written means more or less the same as:

M If you're complaining that your car keeps breaking, you might want to:
M 1. stop driving it,
M 2. borrow your friend's car,
M 3. sell it,
M 4. scrap it.

If your cars top speed is decreasing:
1. Check your tires. Is the pressure correct?
2. Check the load. May you have tons of old stuff in the back of oyur
   car?

No doubt, Aleks suggestions of replacing hard drive ain't the most
practical to everyone, but the other two weren't this strange ...
getting off load and de-fragmenting the hard drive aren't unusual for
speeding up windows and applications.
You can't blame RIT for not reading a heavy fragmented .ttb file
containing 30 messages as fast a a newly created one. But that's
what your blame hinted on: RIT is responsible for The Bat! still
starting fast, no matter the system conditions.

Please don't misunderstand: you're right about many things but some
times you seem to miss there's more than one opinion, and sometimes
even two or three opinions might be valid/true ... and it's not yours
_every time_ :-
