Yes, The Bat! is currently incompatible with Win98, but we are going to fix
this.

Thank you, that is good to know. :)

I think this particularly important for Voyager users who may not know
which machine they can use next. You should mention it on the download
page.

Again, I ask my self. When do RitLabs are going to drop support for
legacy systems, and finally focus on long standing more important
issues like IMAP or Unicode support?

I agree they should fix IMAP and Unicode issues, but they should *not*
drop support for Win98 - especially for Voyager. I don't know how many
systems run Win98 right now worldwide, but I guess it's a lot. Voyager
is meant to run on as many Windows machines as possible! So Win98
support is crucial.

If you're going to use Voyager from a USB device on Win98 you'll need a
driver for the USB device first. :-)

TB is way more complex than it used to be. I've nagged about the
performance of the newer versions compared to 3.0.x repeatedly. What
does it look like on a machine that is 8+ years old, running Win98?

Yes! Same problem w/ Voyager.

That's completely true. For the same reasons Mozilla developers dropped
support for 9x systems in Firefox 3.0 too.

As an ex-developer I know that handling _all_ Windows systems is hard
and time consuming. I wish RitLabs developers spent that time on more
important issues.

In my opinion it is the right time to move on. I checked stats on
couple of my websites and Win9x platforms uses about 0.32-0.75% of
the traffic only. I guess this number is even lower in rich developed
countries.

Also, Win9x users could still download and use older "frozen" version
of The Bat and Voyager that works with their system. This way they
will have a stimulus to upgrade. You can't have one computer for 10 year
without loosing something, you know :)

True. I don't know how to overcome this except for having the driver
CD at hand. On my girlfriend's machine it is, of course, installed. :)

3.85.03 looks and works quite the same as on XP. Everything is slower
though... ;)
