Re: The Bat! v2.01.49 is now available
Hello Mark, A reminder of what Mark Partous typed on: 23 November 2003 at 09:01:25 GMT +0100 MP Only the registry intries for The Bat! (and do you do that manually) or your MP whole registry? Yes , just TB's reg entries and no I don't do it manually. I assume you don't subscribe to TBUDL as I posted the method I've been using with 100% success rate for the past 2-3 years on there yesterday. I posted it for someone who wanted to move to another PC. I use a little batch file to save the reg entries, I then zip up my whole TB directory and I can then move it to any PC I want or restore it as a backup just by unzipping the directory and then running the .reg file. No clean installation necessary beforehand. --- CUT @echo off rem Written by Januk Aggarwal cls echo Welcome to your The Bat! Registry Backup program. echo. echo. echo ___ echo * Back up Complete Bat Directory? * echo *Enter to continue. * echo *___* pause if exist TBbckup1.reg del TBbckup2.reg if exist TBbckup1.reg rename TBbckup1.reg TBbckup2.reg start /w regedit /e TBbckup1.reg HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat! echo. if not exist TBbckup1.reg echo Error! Something went wrong. Backup not echo successful. if exist TBbckup1.reg echo Success! Your registry entries for The Bat! are echo backed up! exit CUT --- I created a sub folder The Bat!\registry and have the above batch file in there. When it's run it saves all TB's reg entries and I then use Winrar to rar up the whole TB folder, the newly created reg file get's zipped up with it. It's just a matter then of unzipping it, double clicking on the reg file and it's as if it's never been moved or changed. I don't trust TB's inbuilt backup facility, not only that it doesn't create a 100% complete portable backup. The only problem I ever had was I once moved from a win98 machine to a win2k machine. That move went fine but I had trouble moving back again because of the differences in the registry. You also need to keep directory structure and paths the same though, if not you can edit the reg file manually to point to the new locations. HTH? -- Best regards,Tony.
