I have now just done so. And I return here with a red face and an
apology to Marek Mikus.

He's the one working with this bugtraq page, and I inadvertently wrote

My apologies also to "Maxim" and to everyone on tbbeta who has seen me

It is on my list (as only item), at first I had some things as
'standard' and 'configuration', but after I customized the standard
toolbar I'm only seeing the **unknown**, so I guess you could call
this a bug report.

What I did was adding a toolbar (called 'new toolbar') added 'mark as
junk to it and assigned a shortcut to it. And everything was fine.
Afterwards I decided that I didn't need another toolbar as I don't
show any of them, so I deleted my new toolbar.
Then I added 'mark as junk' to the standard toolbar and again assigned
my shortcut (Ctrl+F12) to it.
No the toolbars are unavailable from the main screen, though I can
still access them from the editor, the address book and the view

Make that "Standard." My usual butterfingers typos and poor
proofreading skills are again in play this morning! :(

Very convenient to be able to reach the "Customise" page from all
three places, I think.

But it would not be obvious--at least not obvious to me--that the
place to seek the shortcut editor is under "Toolbars/Customise."

Does anyone else see this as a difficulty?

It is not sorted for me. I was only able to make a shortcut for "Save
All," which I did as a test, following the screenshot that Maxim
provided on the issue page,
https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=4205

It is too much for my old brains! In my reply to Greg Strong's
comments in
mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ,

I said that I'd like some quick instructions for this feature from the
developers, here on tbbeta.

I think I'll now go to the issue page and cite his post and yours to
Maxim, just in case he doesn't find time to read this thread.

Well, I'll wait at least until my own two Reply posts make it to the
list, so I can cite them also. More economical than trying to explain
all these complicated difficulties in an added bugnote there, I think.

Thanks so much for this reply from you, Richard. I hope you did
finally get some sleep! :)

Ah. Hadn't gone far enough to find out that "Customise" can be reached
from the "View Folder" and "Edit Mail Message" windows as well as from
the main window.

However, "**Unknown**" is not on the menu I see. Just "Stamdard" and
"Formatting" and "Customise".

I see that in the main window menu and in the "View Folder" and "Edit
Mail Message" windows. And it does bring up a dialogue page with many
customizing options.

Version 3.0.9.13 is the first 9.xx download version I've put on my
machine.

So I'm speculating that "Unknown" may have been taken off, but that
it's conserved in your menu from the earlier 9.xx betas. This happened
to me when the first "Wizards" to be offered, a long time ago, stayed
in my Bat directory even after the developers removed them in later
betas.

Could you give me a more precise path to this? I can't find such an
options tab. I would like to check it out, since the issue in
https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=4205
is the need for just one shortcut editor.

I want to explore this question with Maxim, also.

It would be nice to get some quick documentation on this from the
developers, here on tbbeta, so that we can continue with testing the
shortcut editor in a useful way.

Maxim asked that comments be put on the issue page for which I've
given the URL above.

But I hope he will also be reading this thread.

> Just thinking out loud, and adding my $.02 worth.

Much appreciated, at least by me.

I'm a mouse person and hardly ever use keyboard shortcuts. I got
interested in the problems because a number of the friends I've made
on these lists--including yourself, Greg, and Richard Wakeford--were
so frustrated with the situation last January.

If I can find that there are still two shortcut editors, I shall
report that on the issue page to Maxim.

Now's the time, since he's currently working on it, and asking for
comments.

And also the time to report the difficulties using the new editor.

All that it did for me was to create a shortcut for "Save All" to
which it assigned the keys. I haven't explored it further, since I
wanted to ask for in-put from people who actually do rely on
shortcuts.

> Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I looked at this feature a few betas ago and the general response was
the code was not complete. Given the **Unknown** menu I'm not sure how
much has changed. I do know they added shortcuts on the options tab of
the QT's. So without giving it a play you may now have 2 places for
shortcuts to be created.

IIRC there use to be 1 place to look for conflicts. So if a shortcut
doesn't work, then where do I find out if there is a conflict between
shortcuts?

I just added a shortcut to a QT that doesn't work. Could be a
conflict, or maybe I have to shut TB down and re-start. I don't know.

Just thinking out loud, and adding my $.02 worth.

Yes, I got a couple of mails about it so thought that I'd have a play as
I can't sleep. I've looked at it before and at least it seems semi
understandable with the left pane now divided into various sections
instead of just one massive long list but I'm damned if I can get it to

MB> You choose "Save All" under current items, and the new shortcut is

All I tried to do was to assign my own shortcut key to "Move to next
unread" so I selected "Message view popup" in the "Select container" and
then went to "Move to next unread". I see that CTRL+ALT+L or CTRL+] are
assigned. Well that's wrong for a start because also plain CTRL+L works
too.

I can get rid of one or all of them but can't assign one myself. It
doesn't let you do it. I don't want to add a button or another menu
command, just change it and I can't. I'm glad you've got it sorted but I
find it all far too ambiguous as to what to do :-(

I wonder, do I have to delete the "Move to next" and then re insert it
from the left hand column so that I can then put my keystroke in? All
too complicated. Time to go back to bed before I get totally frustrated
and stop myself from sleeping.

Shortcut editor in View/Toolbars/Customise

2005-04-10 Thread Mary Bull
Hello Everyone!

I've been monitoring a January 9, 2005, issue on bugtraq about
consolidating the shortcut editor[s] into one. Just today Marek Mikus
notified me there that the new one is in View/Toolbars/Customise/

You choose "Save All" under current items, and the new shortcut is
assigned in a box labeled "Shortcut."

There's a screenshot on the bugtraq issue page:

https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=4205

I think this is probably a pretty good place for the editor, except
that it's not self-evident what to do to use it.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?
