For SMTP to work, you need Mercury S and Mercury E running.

For Mercury S, go into its configuration settings and in the
'relay/connection' control section, hit the 'add restriction' button and
enter 127.0.0.1 as the IP address and enable 'allow connections from this
address group'. Otherwise, from there on, you can use the default
settings. MercuryE requires no specific configuration.

If you're having problems with sending messages directly to the recipient
domain servers, you can use Mercury C instead of Mercury E. In Mercury C,
use one of your many SMTP servers as a SmartHost and the messages will be
relayed via the SMTP server without problems.

For TB!, you can either put 'localhost' or '127.0.0.1' as the SMTP server
to use.

Good Luck!

Thanks Dierk I did as you said, I was able to select Tools > OpenPGP >
Choose OpenPGP version > The PGP 5.5 plugin radio button was lit up
and why??? Because PGP 5.5.3ai was already installed. That is, I
didn't have to add a path (line) in autoexec.bat (maybe it's already
there, I haven't looked.

Nice one, thanks, problem solved.

Hey..now that's some information I can use.. that address is:

> It is. Just have a look at the CKT version, (PGP 6.5.8ckt)

I was trying to get that last night from the URL that Curtis sent i.e.

http://www.ipgpp.com/

But the site was so slow as to be dead. I'll try back.

You could be killed for saying a thing like that Dierk, OK, I just
thought that line into autoexec.bat ended with PGP 2.6.x. I guess not
where the Bat is concerned; anyway I'll do something like:

SET PGPPATH=C:\PROGRAM FILES\PGP

How come that handy explanation isn't in the Bat PGP help manual? .

- From these exchanges and the Bat help topics on PGP I think they need
a rewrite and better instructions. Help just suggested that the
PGP.dlls were already in the program.

Anyway my blood's up I"m going to try PGP 6xckt if I can use my
existing RSA keys with it, and thanks for bringing attention to the
missing .dlls and where to find them,

Now where do I put them, the Bat directory or Windows\system? Maybe
there's a readme, I'll figure it out.

Using The Bat from VBS, with Mapi, or DDE ?

2001-06-14 Thread Chistophe Esperado

   Paris, le jeudi 14 juin 2001 18:15
   Mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello,

New on this ML, I have the following problem to solve.
Using Hamster, Xnews, and the Bat, i would like to use the nice editor of
the bat to correct messages between Xnews and Hamster.(Hamster is a local
news and mail server ). So, i have written a script in Hamster with a little
VBS to do that. As a test, i use it dealing with Winword.

Works perfect: sending the post from Xnews open winword with the text
inside, and a message box. Ok on the message box, and the message is
corrected in Hamster. All that is done across clipboard, but i can use
text-files as well.

My question is: How to do the same with the editor of The Bat!.

I don't know enough about MAPI, or DDE to do that. I have tried "mailu", but
the message goes directly in Outbox of "the Bat!, without opening editor. I
have tried "Mailto:";, but it seem limited to 128 chars.

To give more precisions, my script does the followings: As soon a news's
post is received in Hamster, the text part of it is copied in clipboard,
then, Hamster execute the VBS witch open Winword, and paste the text inside
with a msg box. After edition (spelling, and so), ok on the msgbox goes:
select the whole text, copy in clipboard, close WinWord, exit VBS. Then
Hamster replace the text of the original message with the corrected one from
clipboard.

Did someone have an idea ? I am Working blind on that for hours.

(Apologies for my poor English!, and have have a good day.)

Amicalement,

--
 Christophe.

no I don't think so. It did that on two different messages, and I took
a close look. But it worked again this morning after upgrade to bis
and a reboot, so I don't know what to think.

But don't be confused about the display of PGPlog, which introduces a
minor, but still confusing bug: The column "validity" always shows the
graphic for 'self signed' (=own) keys, not the 'reality' - this is under
"key id", where the correct facts are written in letters.

1.53bis possible bug with DDE registry keys

2001-06-14 Thread Peter Steiner

Hello The Bat! developers,

I'm using The Bat! Version 1.53bis
  Serial Number BB892117
under Windows NT 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 1
and would like to report a bug

  The bug description:
Not all DDE related registry keys seem to be well formed. I have
discovered 3 places where TB! stores DDE settings in the registry:

/1/ HKLM\software\classes\mailto\shell
/2/ HKLM\software\classes\The Bat! message file\shell
/3/ HKLM\software\classes\The Bat! vCard file\shell

/1/ seems to be correct:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\mailto\shell\open\DDEexec]
@="%1"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\mailto\shell\open\DDEexec\Application]
@="thebat"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\mailto\shell\open\DDEexec\Topic]
@="tbDDE"

/2/ however (as well as /3/) looks strange, instead of an
shell\open key adjacent to shell\command there is a much
deeper tree with a touch of recursion:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\The Bat! message file\shell\open]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\The Bat! message file\shell\open\command]
@="\"F:\\Program Files\\The Bat!\\thebat.exe\" /nologo /o:\"%1\""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\The Bat! message file\shell\open\command\shell\open\DDEexec]
@="/nologo /o:\"%1\""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\The Bat! message
file\shell\open\command\shell\open\DDEexec\shell\open\DDEexec\Application]
@="thebat"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\The Bat! message
file\shell\open\command\shell\open\DDEexec\shell\open\DDEexec\Application\shell\open\DDEexec\Topic]
@="tbDDE"

PS: i have crossposted this to TBTECH. It's quite usual to crosspost
bug reports to TBUDL or TBBETA, but as I thought that this bug report
will only bore most of TBUDL readers (and the subject is quite
technical), I'm sending it to TBTECH. Is this okay?

Regards,
  Peter Steiner

I see.

Anyway, C.K. further elaborated on his problem and we now realize that he
doesn't have the required TB! dll installed. So he's short a TB! dll and
I'm short an installation of PGP 5.5. :-)

I even was not able to make it work for new messages.
Seems %FROM & %REPLYTO are processed while %ACCOUNT evaluation is
still in progress and so %ACCOUNT overwrites both others :-(
I don't know how to solve this, except a workaround: a QT.
