DDhelp.exe and Stimon.exe are always started when TB runs. Is this normal?

In the past, I have traced a few lock-ups to times when DDHelp was
loaded. I realise it doesn't use any ticks, usually, but still, if I
killed it, the WinME sys ran. If I had problems with tremendous
slowdowns, I could also see DDHelp.exe was loaded.

May not even be relevant. But I thought I would mention it and see if
 anyone else had experiences.

Informations on various files/processes (from various aspects) can be
found pretty easily simply by typing in file/process name into Google's
machine. I use this strategy often instead to search without great
success Winblows' Help system and similar. Here are some of such
informations:

http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/index.html
http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/ddhelp/

Here, also, I didn't notice DDHelp.exe running in correlation with TBat,
but again my SE is not classical, out of box system but revamped by
Micro Lite technology (thus significantly modified and reassembled), and
my TB version is 2.12.00. Basically, ddhelp.exe is a core component of
Direct3D, in charge of advanced functions of audio and video hardware.

The very same Micro Lite technology (www.98lite.net) can be used for
putting in order Windows MEe/Baa too. Result is, at least here with my
variant of SE, exceptionally fast system which doesn't crash
(literally!).

I switch to XP(ee) only when I want to play games, until I find some
way/time to re{vamp|arrange} this OS too, enough decently (it's much
harder case, since IE[6] integration into OS, like hordes of bedbugs,
looks sometimes hopeless, and is main reason of OS instability/mess,
thus interacting with not only TB but with many other applications as
well).

Explanations for stimon.exe are given by Ludovic already.

And, I can again confirm [Here] that everytime TB! starts, that the

They have been changing something as to TB's GUI in versions 3, so is
possible that TB calls/molests more OS's components than before. But, it
is just my _supposition_. I had no time to mangle a lot with those
versions.

Developers {w|sh}ould know to deliver the precise answer, I guess.

Here, both in WinXP MLP and WinSE MLPEM, ddhelp.exe is definitely not
being called in the time of TB's (2.12.00) start.

Just to be sure: Do you mean that I can make a fake install with the

Exactly this. Since msi works like any previous installer, and these
previous installers work actually as *un-packers* only. And, if you
could manage with previous versions to work via CrossOver, then you'll
be able in this same way to manage with v3.

 Thanks a lot.

Just got word that CodeWeavers are working on the Microsoft

Ini files and registry entries are created after the first run of

Does anyone share my frustration of not being able to unreservedly
 recommend TB! to others?

Very fine rant; I like to hear them, since it most often means that
someone is really concerned about something and need a real solution;
for the difference of a fancy, and decent, complaining. Speaking
cosmogonically, the fire must be shown, at least for the sake of
security, of the worlds, since a contrary (a decent, an over-polite)
move would cause burns around the corner, or from the backs, which
is not nice, is a bit mean, even, and is what we do not yearn for, I
would dare to say. In this sensitive and delicate moment.

As for recommendation: I see TB as an (eternally) unfinished piece; some
parts are completed and final, as a body/head of a medusa, some other
ones are growing, more or less under control, but are prone sometimes
to deny themselves, after a while, decomposing[1] and returning in the
primary mass for starting anew, and some of them are just vagaries where
the superfluity of the creative impulses are looking for an outlet and a
temporary burst (as is the case with the smiley avalanche) for the sake
of a pure horsing/monkeying around, which is after all all good, and
even much better than some destructive ways of releasing, as we can
see after, and sometimes even during, some football match.

So, TB then obviously has several ontological levels, of which I
listed just main ones, as *I* see the Thing. And, since diverse people
are attracted by diverse (levels of) things, one could recommend TB from
diverse reasons. Hence, one has to know the victim well enough, in
order to apply a properly prepared recommendation. Example: if you'd
recommend to a techy type of a person TB accenting the bursting smiley
function, s/he would get an impression you are a nut. But vice versa as
well: for an DoubtLooker type, recommending medusa's head/body (with all
those filtering and other capabilities) would bring you to the same
effect.

Therefore, and hence, you, and we all, *never* could _unreservedly_
recommend *anything* to *anybody*. Even not for a $10.000. (-: (Which is
not some sum, after all, btw.) Simply because we always have to
recommend whatever only and exclusively *reservedly*, with a grain of
Noble Reserve, since all things are mutually interconnected and they
influence one another in a definitely magic and unseen way, as the Chief
in Seattle - Wash. have said wisely once. Or even more times. Which is,
further, the reason why we are not able to be aware of the just each
effect we cause by what we do. Example: you could recommend TB to
someone following your best intentions, but the guy/girl could make a
mess, by not being able to use it in a acceptable way. There.

So, you are always at a certain risk, which you have to accept, since an
infinite avoidance of risk is actually an infinite avoidance of life.
All of that is because the life is a pure magic, that is: no risk no
life. In other words, you have to accept the fact that, if you live at
full, and if you love it, you have to be prepared as well for all sorts
of reactions your being and your deeds could produce in your
environment, including the target you recommend TB to.

I hope the mentioned frustration is resolved now, since I have shown the
method of how I deal(t) with it.

OK, this text is enough crazy -- but I hope helpful enough too! -- so I
could finish there, and sink in the Silence, which is a Blessing.
