Re: De-duplicates

Hello Peter
FG Is there any way of de-duplicating a whole message base, folder by
FG folder, on message ID only?

Peter That's what Kill Dupes does. Right click the folder and select it. Or
Peter use Maintenance in the folder menu and do it for all at once.
Nope - that is NOT what kill dupes does. Kill Dupes identifies
a unique message by some combination of all the header information,
including the received by: fields dates.. hence if you received the
same message twice at different times, it will NOT dedup

Those have always been de-duped at my system. The only reason to have
duplicate messages is because you've received them on different times.

Mmh - looks like I have many identical messages with identical created
dates, but with different message ID's and received dates!!. Could it
be that MS-Exchange allocates a new message ID as you move messages
around between folders?

It shouldn't do that (I think), but I don't have any experience with
exchange.

De-duplicates

2003-10-09 Thread Foster, Graham
Hi TBTECH

Having made a really bad job of moving folders around (moving from
IMAP to POP3), I now have zillions of duplicate messages which only
vary by the POP3 received date/time in TB!

Is there any way of de-duplicating a whole message base, folder by
folder, on message ID only?

Graham
