I don't know what DDhelp.exe is but Stimon.exe is the « Still Imager
Monitor » software from HP. I had it when I installed my scanner. It's
used by the scanner when you click on one button of your scanner.

But it's launched by default when Windows is launched.

It's not usefull for me so I disabled it. It uses memory for something
which is not important for me.

Merry Christmas.

DDHELP resides in Windows system and has things to do with DirectDraw
from MS again though, BOTH these are loaded everytime I start TB!
and it annoys me because I am able to kill them and TB still seems to
run.

In the past, I have traced a few lock-ups to times when DDHelp was
loaded. I realise it doesn't use any ticks, usually, but still, if I
killed it, the WinME sys ran. If I had problems with tremendous
slowdowns, I could also see DDHelp.exe was loaded.

May not even be relevant. But I thought I would mention it and see if
 anyone else had experiences.

Informations on various files/processes (from various aspects) can be
found pretty easily simply by typing in file/process name into Google's
machine. I use this strategy often instead to search without great
success Winblows' Help system and similar. Here are some of such
informations:

http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/index.html
http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/ddhelp/

Here, also, I didn't notice DDHelp.exe running in correlation with TBat,
but again my SE is not classical, out of box system but revamped by
Micro Lite technology (thus significantly modified and reassembled), and
my TB version is 2.12.00. Basically, ddhelp.exe is a core component of
Direct3D, in charge of advanced functions of audio and video hardware.

The very same Micro Lite technology (www.98lite.net) can be used for
putting in order Windows MEe/Baa too. Result is, at least here with my
variant of SE, exceptionally fast system which doesn't crash
(literally!).

I switch to XP(ee) only when I want to play games, until I find some
way/time to re{vamp|arrange} this OS too, enough decently (it's much
harder case, since IE[6] integration into OS, like hordes of bedbugs,
looks sometimes hopeless, and is main reason of OS instability/mess,
thus interacting with not only TB but with many other applications as
well).

Explanations for stimon.exe are given by Ludovic already.

They have been changing something as to TB's GUI in versions 3, so is
possible that TB calls/molests more OS's components than before. But, it
is just my _supposition_. I had no time to mangle a lot with those
versions.

Developers {w|sh}ould know to deliver the precise answer, I guess.

Here, both in WinXP MLP and WinSE MLPEM, ddhelp.exe is definitely not
being called in the time of TB's (2.12.00) start.
