You realize there is a difference between need and want?

For years everybody had to go without any colour coding in any e-mail
client, then colour coding came, then some applications got around to
colour code levels. And now we *need* level colour coding?

Don't get me be misunderstood, I like this feature and would use if

it will be changed when the other major bugs have been deleted.

Oh, is there any? What I want is what I need...

For years everybody had to go without any colour coding in any e-mail
 client,

For years people used to live in caves...

 then colour coding came,

And some people are very happy with this new brilliant
option. OK. If you don't like colour coding you don't have
to use it or you can select same colors for quoted text and
for main text. I see no problem here.

then some applications got around to colour code levels.
And now we *need* level colour coding?

I need. More - I can see such an option in Rich Text/HTML
viewer... So it means - that not only I need it... and that
developers are doing something about it...
But - I need it only in fixed width font view.

Don't get me be misunderstood, I like this feature

Which one? Colouring or Rich Text/HTML viewer?

and would use if the RTV wasn't a memory hog in the
 moment.

It is at the moment and the speed is not satisfactory.

But Stefan assured us that it will be changed when the
other major bugs have been deleted.

Good news!

You are going wrong way...

2001-09-21 Thread Jacek Wojaczynski

Hello Bat-maniacs!

Well... I have recently installed the newest beta version
and I'm really disappointed.

A saw very nice option here:

 |- Options
   |- Preferences
 |- Viewer

and there - the possibility to select a different color for
signature, for quoted text, even quoted text... but it works
only with Rich Text/HTML Viewer which is so slow that
I cannot use it on my system ;-(

And now the question:
Is it really so difficult to make these colors for fixed
font viewing? IMO these colors (signature and even quoted
text) might also be in the editor window - I'd love that.

Please - why are you going somewhere with Rich Text/HTML??
I REALLY don't need this crap.

PS. Why I can use only TT fonts in Rich Text/HTML viewing?
I have a font SS_Iso and I can't use in fixed fonts view
(because it's not a fixed font) and can't use in Rich
Text/HTML view (because it's not a TT font). I cannot use
this font in TB! Why not?? No problems to use this font in a
newsreader (Xnews).

why not try right clicking the preview pane and going to preferences
and then the Display tab

the colors change just fine
and it stays true for the editor window as well

Unfortunately the development isn't powered by only your needs.

I know that... but why Rich Text/HTML is on the first
place?? I'd like to see signatures in a different color and

OK. I understand that it is so difficult to implement it,
right? The only way to see a signature in a different color
is Rich Text/HTML view? No more questions...

regards,

[1] I have nothing against Rich Text/HTML Viewer. Maybe
there are some users who use it... It would be better for me
if it was a plug-in, because I don't use it...
All I want are the same color schemes for fixed width font as
it is now for Rich Text/HTML view. Howgh.

Because there has been a lot of requests for it. Requests from many
who do use the other very useful features of TB! that aren't available
in other clients.

The plain text viewer is still available for those uninterested in the
RTFV.

JW I'd like to see signatures in a different color and even quoted

Apparently implementing this sort of thing in the plain text viewer is
very difficult, hence the move to another viewer.

JW OK. I understand that it is so difficult to implement it, right?

At the moment, yes.

I do appreciate the slowness at this time. It's still in beta so we
don't know what it will be like when fully optimised. I already see
that it's faster in beta 9.

I am afraid not. I need a different color for signature and
for quoted text (even) - as they call it in TB! Beta/9.

Now I am in a editor window and my signature has the same
color as the regular text. And the test text:

  Sorry, it's just a test...

also has the same color as quoted text (odd) - but it
should have a different color - as quoted text (even). Hope
 it's clear enough...
