IMAP "new messages" ??

1999-09-22 Thread Rob

Hello bat(wo)men,

anybody here connecting to an IMAP server ??
using "account/dispatch mail on server/new messages only", i still get
a list of _all_ the messages in my inbox ...
so the status-line at the bottom of the dispatch-window says :
INBOX accessed (391 total, 13 unseen, 19 new)
and then retrieves the headers for all 391 messages ...

bug/feature ?? or do TheBat! and I have a different view on what is "new"
and/or "unseen" and what is not ?

don't know what you tried ; but un-flagging 'receive' and flagging 'delete'
and then 'start transfer' (click traffic light) should do the trick ...

if not try 'Magic Mail Monitor'
it lets you preview and delete messages from your POP3 mailbox(es) ...

List Administration Note

1999-09-22 Thread Marck D. Pearlstone

Greetings fellow Battlers,

We have now added a new dimension to TBUDL and TBBETA that will,
hopefully, add to its' usefulness. The TBUDL and TBBETA discussion
lists are now being archived in a public archive resource at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and
[EMAIL PROTECTED] We have also provided
a simplified alias for each address and convenient shortcuts to the
archive in the list traffic footer text.

The simplified aliases (URL forwarding) are:
http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com and http://tbbeta.thebat.dutaint.com.

Cheers,
Marck

Filters

1999-09-22 Thread Claude

Hi, all,

I want to send an auto reply to the senders of the posts I receive in
a particular account.

Some people wants not to get the auto reply.

So I made the following filter :
Source : Inbox
Destination : Inbox\AutoReplyDone

Strings Location Yes/no
String1 Text No
String2 Text No

Logically, IF ( (NO String1) AND (NO String2) ) is the same than
IF (String1 OR String2)

In fact, it doesn't work, in one case : if there is just one of the
strings *and* if this string is in the first line of the text.

Did I mess a point ?

It appear that you wish here for TB to filter when string 1 or
string 2 is not present. For this to occur place string2 in the
alternatives section.

I visited the site and find it most appealing. I however have a problem
with it and it's that my e-mail address is exposed for everyone to see
and therefor, sets the stage for spamming. Distressing indeed. If I
remove my e-mail address from my signature, I guess that this will help,
but what of the messages that are already there? I don't wish to be
disruptive but I do hate spam.

If there is any reassurance to give in this regard apart from the fact
that I should get acquainted with spam filters, I'd really appreciate
this.

feature request : better handling of wrapping

1999-09-22 Thread lowlevel

Hello TBUDL,

I would like to see some better handling of how the bat does
wrapping. Currently, if I paste in some text with a lot of
paragraphs consisting of long lines (which are perfectly wrapped in
my other editors), then the bat lists them as just long lines. I
have to manually select all the paragraphs, and press alt-j. This is
  taking me too long :(

Also, if I have auto-wrapping turned on, instead of auto-inserting
line-feeds when I type my lines, I would like to see a feature that
keeps indented lines (such as this paragraph) internally as one long
line, and just a 'note' of the starting x-position on the first
line. That way, if I remove some words in the middle of the
paragraph, the auto-wrapping code could neatly 'fix' my paragraph,
without me having to select it and do it manually.
Ofcourse, text like this (with a different x-offset) would simply be a
new paragraph to the program.

By only putting in the actual carriage-return line-feeds (preferably
even make this optional per account!) when the mail is actually
sent, editting should become a whole lot more easier.

And while you're at it, if I have auto-wrapping turned on, I'd like
to see (per account-option?) the width of my edit-window limited to
just the width of my typing (to auto-save screen real-estate).

Greetings,
 lowlevel

Thanx, but does it work when there is just one of the strings and it
is in the first line ? What I've done works well in all the other
cases, but it seems to be a bug related to the test of the first line
:)
