If you mean Outlook Express, I'd say yes. I've done it only once
though, and it was enough ;-) I used the Import Wizard, in the Tools
menu entry.

Re: filtering problem

1999-11-10 Thread Ali Martin

Hi all,

On Tuesday, November 09, 1999, 8:22:08 PM (-5 GMT), Larry scribbled:

Although my regular e-mail address is [EMAIL PROTECTED], I am able to
have several pseudo e-mail addresses that *appear* to be a USA
address, but loop back and arrive at my server here in Brazil. One of
them that I use is, [EMAIL PROTECTED] In other words, when I send
a message to, [EMAIL PROTECTED], it ends up here in Brazil at my
real address, [EMAIL PROTECTED] My question (or problem) is the
following: How can I get the filter to put it into a certain folder.
For example, I made a filter called - Tim. I then made a filter that
goes like this - Move message to folder: Family/Tim, - Filtering
Strings: [EMAIL PROTECTED], Location: Recipient, Presence: Yes.

I tried this with another e-mail client and it worked. In other
words, it ended up in the "Tim" folder. With the Bat, I can't get it
to filter to that folder. I even tried the Location - "everywhere",
but it still doesn't filter to the "Tim" folder. Obviously, I'm not
 doing something right.

Here is how the header looks. Perhaps that will give you an idea of
the route the message is taking.

snip
Does anyone have a suggestion? Thank you for your help.

My only suggestion would be to change the location from 'recipient' to
'Kludges' and that would surely work. That's a filter that will place
any message in the designated folder if it has [EMAIL PROTECTED]
appearing anywhere in the headers.

Thank you for your help. Your suggestion at least helped me to
discover my own stupidity. When I tried "kludges", and *that* didn't
work, I came to the conclusion that I must be the culprit! I
discovered that I had programmed another filter with [EMAIL PROTECTED]
which came early on my list - therefore, since both [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED] were both in the header, the filter caught the
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and put it where I had programmed. One point for The
Bat! - zero for me! Thanks again.

The only use is it while selecting a message ? Is there a way to
use the column mode to make tables ?

With me it was the virus called WIN95/CIH, run a scan/clean on ur PC
then it should be ok.
It have to be one of the latest scan/clean software you find, tryed
out several here and most of them told me no virus found, but at least
I got it. Now running v 1.36 after cleaning and installing, and
installing was like playing with banana.
Happy ending.

Limits on # of addresses for one email

1999-11-10 Thread Kevin Boylan

Hi,

Can someone tell me if there are any limits (either in number or in
characters) on how much can end up in a message for recipient
addresses imposed by either internet standards and/or by The Bat?
Seems like I remember seeing somewhere that there is a character limit
as to how long the To: or the CC: or BCC: fields can be. Is that
true?

Do I need to break a large group list into smaller groups at some
point?

Thanks,

Kevin
