Only thing I can tell you here is that some Thai isp's still insist in
adding their dialup data to the normal networking control applet
causing in some cases a horrific mess.
Your dialups should NOT have anything in the networking part of the
control panel and if they do its from an isp which doesnt know how to
run an isp service.
Once you add one it can mess it up for all the others.

Anyway, on rereading your question I try to find this Options /
network &admin...
Where the heck IS it (g)??

That's not how it works. Both go in C: and both remain C: but only
one is active at the time. You chose which at boot time using the boot
manager. I think windoze 9.x > has to be in C: anyway, unless that's
changed. Last I heard Partition Magic was using IBM's Boot manager
(DON'T use the double boot option if that's offered, use the one for
multiple boot options), which came with OS/2 and is good.

But you are right about that being the way to go and Partition Magic
is an important tool. (I have the v 2 & 3).

Thanks for the quick reply!

I understand (as I now solved the problem my own :-). However, keeping
the attachments in the message would likely not be an option for me - I
receive large attachments regularly and I'm not sure how TB! would
handle an 1 GB message database - any experiences in this area?

Thanks for the tip, but I resolved it using a text search and replace
tool (thank god you didn't encrypt the message database ;-). It's back
working, all attachments back.

Thanks, but the question was rather referring to the logon itself,

I got a reply which works but confuses me: Even though the dial-up

Moving mail folder screws up attachments??

2000-05-29 Thread Ralf Buschmann

Hi all,

I had to reinstall my machine and also reorganized my hard disk. As a
result, my TB! mail folder is now D:\MAIL as opposed to E:\MAIL before.

I reinstalled TB! v1.44 and everything is fine so far, except for that
now all my old messages with an attachment do not have an attachment
anymore! I still see the "attachment icon" in the message list, but when
I click on it, the attachment icon disappears and the message is
displayed without an attachment.

Looking at the message database, I see a lot of references to
"E:\MAIL\\attach\.." (the old mail directory), especially in the
X-BAT-FILES headers. Why the hell does TB! store a full path name for
incoming attachments? A path name relative to the main mail folder would
make much more sense, IMHO.

Is there any way to re-index the message database so that the old
messages get associated with the appropriate attachments again?

Thanks!

Ralf.

New message from command line question

2000-05-29 Thread Januk Aggarwal

Hello all,

I just had a quick question. I'm creating a script that is supposed
to send a given file to TB to be attached to a new mail message. So
 I have,

 "C:\Program Files\The Bat!\TheBat.exe /NOLOGO /MAILA="

The script provides the appropriate file for after the = sign.

When I run this script, TB places a message in the Outbox of my
default account. I want to have TB automatically open that message to
be edited, just like what happens when you click on a mailto: link.
Anyone know how to do this?
