I do all the time as follows :
- Suppose your current TB! is c:\program files\the bat!\ and folders
   under directory c:\program files\the bat!\mail\Andrew
- You will move to other PC and copy all TB! folder to same
   directory, i.e c:\program files\the bat!\mail\andrews
- Copy all account.* and *.abd to root directory c:\...\mail\andrews
- Install TB! to c:\program files\the bat!, while install do not
directly point to your TB! folder, instead create dummy account
   such [EMAIL PROTECTED]
- After finished the installation, create secondary account but now
point to your Real Account (the directory point to
   c:\...mail\andrew).

I just ran into the same situation as Andrews, followed your directions, so
far so good. But I must be be really clueless today because I can't figure
out out what you mean by "point" to your real account... I've got my test
account visible under folders, but my other accounts which I had copied
from my laptop aren't seen by TB. How do I make TB "point" at them when they
are already sitting in the same directory as on the other computer??!!!

View email on the server before donwloading

2001-10-25 Thread Jean Claude Gaertner

Hello,
I'm currently evaluating The Bat and would like to know if there is a
way to view a list of e-mails (and size) on a server before
downloading them via the Alt-F2 command.
And if yes, is it possible to delete some of them before downloading
others
Thanks

Yes to both questions. Use the "Account / Dispatch mail on server"
options (or the shortcuts to them). It's all there.

The Bat! under Linux

2001-10-25 Thread Jernej Simončič

Well, if you can read this message, then I made The Bat! work under
Linux (with Wine).

The Bat! seems to work (more or less) with the latest build. It takes
a little longer to load (actually, when it's loading it gets caught in
some loop, and doesn't exit until I press Alt+Tab), and I can't always
browse folders or view messages. But so far, it seems to work.

I'm using Mandrake Linux 8.1 and WINE build 20011023-1. I'll upload a
screenshot at http://www2.arnes.si/~sopjsimo/misc/batlinux.png later.

no QUIT - the same large mail again and again

2001-10-25 Thread Ralf Heinl

Hello,

I'm using The Bat! Version 1.54 Beta/9
  Serial Number 1B335195
under Windows NT 4.0 Build 1381 Service Pack 6.

I use an internal Mailserver "MDaemon" from Deerfield.

If I fetch mails with very large attachments (bigger 6 MB) from there
(and only then!), there is no "QUIT" at the end and I get the same
mails 5 or 6 times.

Deerfield says, it is not a problem of the Mailserver - they cannot
reproduce it.

I believe, there is a signal loss because there is no QUIT at the end.
That all happens within 60 seconds.

Can I raise the timeout therefore?

Here is the logfile:

Just tried with a 54mb attachment and between the NOOP, DELE and the
POP session complete I get

Fri 2001-10-26 01:33:18: [652:163] Winsock Error 10054: Connection was reset by the

Fri 2001-10-26 01:33:18: [652:163] POP session complete, 54501393 bytes transferred!

This happens while TB is busy importing. *However* using MD3.6a (a
hybrid 3.5, pre v4) the DELE stick and the message is gone. Perhaps it
is a V4 / V5 (is it out yet?) issue that the DELE is not taken
seriously without a QUIT. Seems a bit silly to me. Anyway, you can use
the message dispatcher to delete the message and avoid repetitive
download syndrome.

Yupe agree and actually no timeout setting on TB! :-)

Something like that, but I curious Desktop anti virus involved here. I
remember getting such error when running AVG :-(

It is configurable now since MD 4 (latest version 5.0.1), but IMHO it
is worth to activate this from Miscl. Options menu.

While at home, every week (I just running TB! at home on Saturday or
