Another way to do is to create a Folder in account B named say A's Inbox. And

Unfortunately it doesn't - at the moment it treats IMAP4 like POP3 (only

Well, it doesn't support using imap folders for mail storage, you need
to download the mails.

To access other folders on the imap-server, use the mail dispatcher
(Account - Dispatch Mail On Server - All Messages). To add folders to
dispatch, choose the mail controller (View - Mail Controller). Here you
can subscribe and unsubscribe to imap folders, set destination folders
etc.

common (company-wide) folders on the server :/

(It may well be undocumented = doesn't work very well so isn't

discussions in the past about IMAP and TLS/SSL* working, or not working,

If you'd like to have a look in help for keyword 'Command line

mean and effect.

'text.txt' was a file name I choose for _this example_ as the file to
be attached to the mail.
Call it 'crap.txt', 'trash.bin', 'win.com' or what so ever ... The
help file will explain to you the parameter 'ATTACH' takes one
argument, the name of the file to be attached to the message generated
with the above command line.

The [QUEUE|SEND] part is quite more difficulty to understand if you're
a non-programmer, this means: either 'QUEUE' or 'SEND'. The difference
between them is explained in help file too.

Hm, to be honest (and blunt) ... that sucks. Unfortunatly the program

on my server. Having to manually subscribe each one of them on every
machine I want to read my mail from AND having to manually get the mails

unusable for me. One can only hope that in the future this will be

Re: Spam filters

2002-02-12 Thread Jan Rifkinson

Hello Jernej

At 8:59 AM on Monday, February 11, 2002 you wrote the
following about [Spam filters]

JR As I understand it, deleting msgs on the server slows
JR down the retrieve process as TB! has to search thru
JR all msgs on server before beginning a download.

Jernej It depends: I have used a Selective Download
Jernej filter, which erased all Magistrs before
Jernej downloading them, because I was receiving them
Jernej up to 8 MB in size...

Any way to get rid of magistrs is wonderful. :-)

Maybe what I was pointing out was more academic than
practical because the differences may be minor in
  your case.

But correct me if I'm not thinking correctly here.

In order for TB! to delete msgs off the server before
it downloads, it has to go thru 2 processes instead
  of one.

First, TB! has to scan all the msgs on the server for
comparison to your filter, delete those matches it
finds, then (second) download the balance of the msgs
  left on the server.

However, if TB! were set to download delete
magistrs @ the local level, it would seem to be a
  faster process.

When you say it depends, what does it depend on? I'm
curious because I would much prefer to delete suspect
worms/virii via very carefully structured tested
filters *before* it gets to my machine although I
have had no infections so far under my current setup.

registry using a script. I never had any problems using this method
and I never lost any mail.

Hello Raj.

At 11:02 PM on Monday, February 11, 2002 you wrote the
following about [template that will reply with correct

JR Excuse me but what, exactly, do you mean by
JR %ACCOUNT=Original Account name? How does this
JR insure the correct account name will be inserted in a
JR msg being answered from a common inbox? Could you
JR describe this a little more.

Raj I am not sure wether I understood your question.

Raj %Account macro is used to specify which account you want to
Raj use in the template.

This I understand. I think what confused me was that
your example [%ACCOUNT=Original Account name] left
me thinking you knew of a new value/macro that was
  defined as original account name.

I guess that's not the case so now I understand.

Filter Rot

2002-02-12 Thread MOATMAI

Hello,

I have a problem with my bat (registered, current)...

Repeatedly, I have experienced Filter Rot, i.e. Mail Filters which
worked for months without problems suddenly stopped doing what they
did previously -- with no change in configuration.

It didn't even help that I jotted down the filter settings, deleted
the filter and re-created it using the same options.

Has this happened to anybody else here? Hints as to the reason or

For you, yes, because you have message IDs generated at your end.

Create a filter with Regular Expressions enabled and look for the
following in kludges:

 ^References.*\[EMAIL PROTECTED]

with an alternative of:

 ^In-reply.*\[EMAIL PROTECTED]

This will pick up replies to your messages.

 1) How do I search through **all mailboxes** for a message?
 Text in message, sender, etc.?
 2) How do I search through a particular mailbox for a

 3) how to I copy a bit of quotable text to the message I want to
 write?

 Thanks everyone!

 Hi everyone,

I found out how to search but how do I quote selected
 text?

It say press F4 but that doesn't work (it creates a
reply) and when in the message editor it does a spell
check. I want to select text and have it automatically
made bold, etc as quoted text is.

 Thanks everyone!

Re: free decent virus checker that works with TB?

2002-02-12 Thread Alan Cummings

I also use F-Prot with The Bat, very similar to the method found at
http://www.guenther-eisele.de/bat/fprot_e.htm but with a slightly
different twist.

Instead of saving the attachment into a directory and scanning it, I
scan the whole message. One thing that F-Prot does do well is that it
is able to find nasty code hidden in messages without the need of
extracting the attachment from the message.

I use the %1 parameter to pass the message to a batch file for scanning
using a filter:

Run External Program - C:\Program Files\The Bat!\Att-Scan.bat %1

This is a copy of the batch file that I use.

(NOTE: F-Prot uses exit codes when it terminates (finishes scanning), that is why
I am using the ERRORLEVEL command, so if F-Prot terminates using the exit code 1,
the rest of of the batch file continues, if not it quits)

--- Att-Scan.bat batch file ---

@ECHO OFF
CLS
ECHO;
C:\F-Prot\F-prot.exe %1 /archive /noboot /nomem /packed /dumb /list
IF ERRORLEVEL 1 GOTO ER1
GOTO END
:ER1
ECHO;
ECHO** WARNING Virus Alert! - Abnormal Termination **
ECHO;
MOVE %1 C:\Windows\Desktop\Virus.txt
ECHO;
GOTO END
:END

--- End batch file ---

So when i receive a message with a attachment, the batch file is run
and F-Prot scans the whole message. If a virus or something that *may*
be suspicious is found, a copy of the message is saved to my Desktop in
a text file called Virus.txt. Then I can safely open the message in my
favourite text editor and look at the message safely.

Alan.

Can't be done in TB. TB doesn't make html-mails and that's what you

Well, I haven't experienced any unexplained 'rot', but I do have several
instances where filters have stopped working, but the explaination has always
been a change in the headers/content used to match the filter conditions.

For instance my BugTraq filter now has *11* alternates because their server
seem to relay whatever people have used to submit their message when it comes
to the domain in the address - it can be with the .net og .org version and
various subdomains also seem to work so the sender can be one of many
combinations (and the recipient is always myself) so I need to have a very
flexible filter for this list.

My advice? - Check the headers/body of the 'missed' messages *very* carefully
and then look at your filter conditions. I'm pretty sure you'll find some tiny
change somewhere that causes the filter to miss.

Yours,
Per Gøtterup

I started with a complete new installation and TB! started restoring
