Other changes include outbound email scanning, greater flexibility in specifying file extensions for autoprotect and background update checks. These are the only advantages over 2001 as far as I can see and I can live without them for the sake of autodeleting infected mail. That, plus the existing startup password, would provide good enough security for most people, I think, without the cast-iron SmartBat! I am of the beleif, John Doe that if there is *any* threat of a virus at all, I would much rather John Doe have it deleted before I ever get to see it. It seemed to me, following the thread as it developed, that 2002 is an inconvenience if one has a dial up connection and a virus comes along. Using broadband, I don't think it matters if a download is halted as there is an always on connection anyway. Also, a point I made during the thread was that if you can get SystemWorks Pro (incl. AV and Ghost) for £15 via ebay, and have broadband, then it's a much better deal than paying normal retail for AV 2002 only ... or even AV 2001. It's swings and 'roundabouts. Re[2]: does anyone have the secure bat? and can you tell me something about it's features
SK There are a number of ways to encrypt filesystems or parts SK thereof that offer more general utility. I question why you SK would spend the money on something that only protects your SK e-mail. While not a direct answer to the original post, I tried to use the PGP approach several months back and not a single client could install it. It is a pain for most people and not worth the trouble. Before I am flamed by the die hard element, I say for MOST people. So, I shifted over to EasyCrypto (free) which means I can write up stuff in Word, or whatever, and then have it encrypted. I then send it along as an attachment. At the other end, a client can open up easily as we have agreed a password together from the outset. http://www.handybits.com/easycrypto.htm No one has complained since and people are enthusiastic about using it. Easycrypto doesn't need a List to work out how to use it either ;-) With best wishes, Dave -- David Conroy MSW Personal Life and Business Coaching World-wide http://www.e-coaching-only.com mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Member International Coach Federation, ID 1006660.
