I think he wants a Filter that will send an incoming message to two

2002-03-10 Thread Roman Katzer

There are two options in the files and directories portion of the account
properties:
Delete attached files when a message is deleted from Trash folder and
Bind attachments only while sending out mail

Will the first one, when checked, also delete files from my directories when
I delete a message I sent from the trash folder? Say I send a message
containing a word doc to a friend and later delete that message from trash.
Will TB delete the original file or only the one it created in it's
attachment folder?
BTW why does it copy attached files to its own folder? This is pretty weird
behavior.
What does that second option do?

In stead using the redirect function of the filter, you can use the
forward function. Here you can use a template, you can add multiple
recipients by adding them with the %To macro.

It is THE reason why I use the beta version of The Bat! I have not had
any major problems with this beta series since I joined around beta 20

But we are not supposed to discuss beta isses here on TBUDL. There is

Problems using OpenPGP with The Bat!

2002-03-10 Thread Jakob Breivik Grimstveit

Until recently I've been using PGPi in combination with TheBat!. Now I
see that PGP 7x series is not supported
http://www.ritlabs.com/the_bat/features.html with TheBat!.

Have anybody got a good solution for me? I've tried GPGP, but I can't
make it fully integrated with TheBat! either (no key manager, no
preferences, displays error messages when trying to sign/crypt text
etc.). I would love to sign my messages before sending them, but I can't
figure out how to do it. The best solution for me would definetly to
keep on using PGPi (unless the development stops on the international
version as well :( )

Using The Bat! v. 1.54 Beta 46 on WinXP.

Re: attachments

2002-03-10 Thread Joseph N.

No idea what the second option does. The first option deletes
attachments that have come in with incoming messages. You can save
the attachments separately (right-click and save as) if you want to
retain them after deleting the associated messages. Files that are
already on your hard drive independently of TB! will remain there;
sending one as an attachment and then deleting your 'sent mail' copy
will not delete the separate, pre-existing document.

I use GPG myself with Roger Sondermann's excellent GPGShell to provide
a GUI for key management and preferences. Another very good
implementation, replete with up to date encodings and patches is
Imad's ckt build of PGP.

I recommend the PGP-Basics discussion list at yahoogroups
([EMAIL PROTECTED]) as a good resource with many
"how to" documents for setting up PGP and GPG with various clients
including The Bat!

I could be wrong but I believe it means that if an attachment you want
to send out is not in your default Attachment Folder *and* you have that
option checked, TB will then send a copy of the attachment from where it
resides. If the option is *not* checked, then TB will move a copy of
that attachment to the default Attachment Folder... and send from there,
leaving you with two copies of the same attachment on your HDD: It's
original Folder and now the default Attachment Folder.

Is there a better way? Well my way is to not bother with the MT, nor take
much notice of the animated icon. I create quick, clear voice overs in Sound
Recorder and have them set-up on each and every folder, so I hear things
come in. If I hear a folder sound/voice I'm interested in then I check. If I
hear 'The Bat', etc then I don't rush to look, etc. It's about the best
solution I've come across, as all others do give you information overload
that's difficult to deal with. If you aren't there when email comes in then
this idea won't work. Just a thought.

If what you are asking for is to move a message to two different
folders, yes it can be done. You select the first folder in the Rule
tab of the filter in "Move messages to folder", and then, for the
second one you have to select the Actions tab and scroll it near the
bottom until you find the action "Create a copy of the message in
another folder".

The main thing is that you need to ensure that the system PATH
variable includes a path to the folder containing GPG.EXE. As long as
this is present, TB will see it and thus enable the GnuPG OpenPGP
choice.

Other than that, I use GPGShell to configure GnuPG itself.

TB/GPG will try to match the From address with that of a key on your
keyring. Make sure that you have imported all of your private keys to
the keyring that associate with that email address. It looks like TB
is getting a match with another key that doesn't have a private key
available for it.

Other than that, I don't really know what to suggest.

Oh well, the older I get, the dumber I also get. D_nm it! The problem
was (no more, no less) that my PGP keys contained a comment field
included - "private" - which caused it to become confused. Thus, by
manually typing the text "(private)" into the correct ID in the "Enter
