html mailto bug
I think I've found a minor, but annoying mailto: bug. With an HTML link that uses the mailto: and a subject line (i.e. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=hello how are you) The Bat! may not properly insert the subject line into the message composing window. If the subject line contains spaces (as above) then The Bat! will only include the first word of the subject in the subject line (i.e. "hello" instead of "hello how are you"). The only way to get around this is substitute the HTML escape character %20 (20 hex is a space) in place of spaces. Unfortunately most websites don't do this, and thus you get a truncated subject line when you click on a mailto: link. You *can* set the Quick template editor to autowrap and autoformat by setting the editor options to do that before you start. Alternatively, why not use TB's message editor? After all, it is designed to be an optimised editor for composing correctly formatted email message bodies! Start a new message and write the whole thing in one go. Then, instead of sending it, copy the message body to the clipboard, open the mass mail quick template and paste the text in. Cancel the message and you should then be all set. That's the way I'd do it. As for a regex to wrap the text, you'd need to modify the rewrap QT in the FAQ macro and template library. Missing Messages
Using The Bat! v1.61 on Windows 2000 5.0 Build 2195 Hi All, I've also asked this on DonZeigler.com: A recent catastrophe fried my NT4 Installation, so I've taken the opportunity to upgrade the machine to Windows 2000. Thankfully, the partition that holds my TB data was still intact, so I installed TB and created an account with the same name as I used on NT4 and in the same directory. TB picked up all my folders, filters, mail settings, etc. However, most of the folders appear to be empty and "Browse deleted messages" doesn't bring back the messages that were there at the time of the crash. If I open the messages.tbb files in Notepad, I can see the content of the messages as plain text -- so the raw data is still there but I can't find a way to access that content in TB. Is there a way to recover these lost messages? You can do this by hitting "Shift-Ctrl-i", and a little memo box will pop up for you to enter your notes about that particular message. What I then do is this: 1) I place a "! " at the beginning of each memo, then... 2) In "View/Message List Column", I add the "memo" column, and give it a column width of 7 (just enough to show the "!"), and place it just after the subject line column. This way, When I'm looking at the message index, I can see which message has a memo attached, and if I want to see the memo, I just hit "Shift-Ctrl-i". Hi Krister, If you were only considering using the free version of AVG, perhaps I wouldn't bother mentioning this, but since you're thinking about buying the "pro" version, I will... If you're looking to purchase an AV, I would recommend you look into something like NOD32 instead of AVG. NOD32 also has a TB! plug-in if that's something you want (it also has its own POP3 scanner, which I use instead of the TB! plug-in). Over the past couple of years, I've tried - and purchased - several AV programs (including purchasing AVG Pro), and I was very disappointed with AVG Pro. Not only does it seem to miss some well-known viruses, it was also prone to false positive "detection". Its "heal" function caused problems as well. On the other hand, NOD32 has always worked flawlessly for me. It's very fast and doesn't seem to be a drain on system resources...even for my relatively slow computer. As far as the "virus free certification" of AVG goes, I feel it's a useless "feature" anyway, and can actually cause more harm than good if a less than careful recipient were to depend on the accuracy of such claims by someone else's AV. If you're going to pay for an AV, pay for one with a better track record than AVG. :-) Melissa - -- PGP public keys: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=0xFB04F2E9&Body=Please%20send%20keys -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- iD8DBQE95RmujVbXUvsE8ukRA9+rAJ90E5PkSBaNjtNQZb/rQYn6Akil7gCguUnT HfAePE1Xzu3R3qGDDa1Ueig= =TYdU -END PGP SIGNATURE- Current version is 1.61 | "Using TBUDL" information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Reassigning toolbar icon
Hi Bats, I would like to have the "get new mail" blue envelope icon button perform the Alt+F2 function "check mail for all". Is there a way to do this? BTW, I have sent this same message yesterday and it did not seem to appear on the list. For that message, I used the Specials|Mailing List to send the email instead of the address book entry nicknamed Bats - the addresses are the same though! Or maybe this question has been asked so many times, nobody wants to answer? :) -- Thanks a bunch, -- mm mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Current version is 1.61 | "Using TBUDL" information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Stupid question about Avg and the bats plug-in
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi Bat! people, I'm currently evaluating the pro version of Avg and the bat plug-in, and i'm not sure i've done everything correctly. I don't know if Avg really checks for viruses or such, and according to the web page of the Avg system, you can't certify mails with the bats plug-in, but i think i've seen somewhere the "certified virus free" text. Sounds like a problem with your history file. Try to deactivate auto- complete (Options -> Preferences -> System) and see if that solves your problem. If it does, go to your the directory of that account and delete the file "ACCOUNT.HIS". Save the message in your Outbox. Move the message from your Outbox to your storage folder. 1. Highlight the message in the TheBat! message window. 2. Choose Message -> Re-direct. 3. Put your email address on the "To:" line. 4. Edit the message. 5. Close AND Save the message. 6. Delete the original unedited message. 7.
