Hello Allie,

TA I would also like to filter out these messages using Virtual folders.

I believe that can be done, but as I see no use for VF myself, I
 can't speak from experience.
snipped
This works very nicely and with other colour groups one could achieve
the same effect with 'important' and 'to do' etc.

I can confirm it can be done and works very nicely. I currently use
colour groups and VFs for Must Reply, Important, For Action,
Reference, Follow Up and (for sent messages) Waiting Response. I
only wish messages could be assigned to more that 1 colour group.

Problem: Reinstalled TB and Lost accounts

2004-08-13 Thread Jacopo Ognibene

 Hi Bats!

After a program freeze [TB doesn't start, fatal error on the
 bat screenshot], I've reinstalled TB.

It doesn't recognized the existing accounts mail, requesting a new
 one.

I've set a new account using the same folder of an older one, and
so TB recognized the right pre-existing settings, but any message in
 the folders is lost...

What can I do to reimport the other accounts avoiding this errors?

[Stupid-proof TO-DO Task: Backup my mail weekly!]

Create a new account (never mind the settings).
Close TB.
Copy the contents of your old account directory to that of your new
account.
Start TB.
Check whether everything is satisfactory.

Repeat this for all of your old accounts. When you're done you can
delete the original directories. (Don't do that any sooner, just in

When this doesn't work properly. (After all their had to be that TB

Never experienced your problems. I've being using since the beginning
BayesIt! - now v0.5.9. I remember that in the beginning I was training
the DB. since then I didn't had to do any changes.

The only problem I find now is that there are those Spams like this
'Make $171' in the Subject. Strangely those I have to filter manually
by marking them 'as Junk'.

Just small explaining how it works:

Suggest, BayesIt graded the letter as 80, and the threshold for moving to junk
is 60. Suggest, BF graded same letter as 10. What happens?

- If BI is the only filter, it will recognize that grade is more than threshold, then
mark
such letter as junk for itself. If you found the error, you just re-mark the
letter, and all right.

- If BI is not only filter, and, suggest, TB uses grade minimum of..., The Bat
will use grade 10 (from BF) and will regard such letter as not-spam. However BI
which doesn't know anything about BF and about final decision of The Bat!, will
categorize such letter basing only on self grade - i.e. 80. So, it will again,
mark the letter as junk for itself. Since you can't know what was the grade, you
either not remark this letter at all (because you don't know even that error
happens) either remark ALL incoming letters to be sure that all of them was
trained correctly.

This is no function in plugin's API for plugin to know from The Bat the final
decision about a letter - and make autotraining (if any) correct way.

E. No.. I guess the simplest way to explain is would be to mimic
it manually.

You send a message to some friends at work. You then create a folder
and a filter to filter any replies to that folder. All your friends
who received your initial message or join in later also do the same.

So you have a folder which collects all the conversation about your
original message. The Chat feature just automates this for you.

Where it can really make a mess is when you do it on one of the TB
lists, because then everyone gets a Chat folder and that thread ends
up there instead of whatever folder all their TB messages get put into
normally.

otherwise include a cookie.

However, if the player isn't playing a thing, the file still exists, but is
empty (0 bytes). So an if exists doesn't help me very much, I'd rather
need to check the size of the file... I suppose that can be done with a
RegEx but this is exceeding my capabilites by far (so far:-) ...

(in addition, that %IF clause continues to puzzle me)

Thanks for your help anyway to all of you.

Conversion from Pegasus (DLists)

2004-08-13 Thread David Earl
Hi All,

I'm a (former) Pegasus (4) user. TheBat converts the eMail files great, but Pegasus
has a nasty habit when distribution lists are used. It sets the recipient to the list
ID. When TB converts these messages, the recipient becomes [EMAIL PROTECTED] Is there
a way that I can change this field to a normal address (or several, if I've created
the corresponding group in my TB address book)? I'm thinking something like this might
be possible in a filter???

FWIW, Pegasus also has a setting, so that the person's name is stored in the eMail,
and not their address, or Self in the case of a Copy for Self message...unfriendly
of Peg, that.

Welcome to TBUDL. :-)

No, there are no differences of the versions you get. It is just meant
to have a student pay less than a home user, who pays less than a
business user. There is nothing required to prove. If you buy an
educational version and use it for business, it's just that you

There are no benefits.

It's regular shareware practice to charge businesses more than the
average user. As I use it for my business, I'm expected to be able to
pay more as it's a business expense.

I think it's a great mechanism as students -- who generally do not
