I would suggest creating a Read filter with the Junk folder as its only
Selected Folder. The filter's Rule should "duplicate the filter
conditions you've set for your VF," as Roeloff has suggested.

The read filter will save time, by filtering only messages that
already have been determined to be junk, rather than filtering all
incoming messages.

New Filter System. The guys started abbreviating it that way on tbbeta
to have a short way of comparing it to the OFS (Old Filter System).
It truly is simpler. Even I have managed to use it without getting
confused--well, maybe a little, the very first one that I constructed
manually--to filter my answers as Trill to the same folder as the
Incoming messages to Trill.

I hadn't realized that I had a drop-down menu to change the filter
focus from Sender to Recipient (there's a whole raft of other choices
there also--default seems to be Sender--you just click on Sender and
there's the drop-down menu).

Then you put in a box (I just copied and pasted) what Sender (or
Recipient) should contain. For my outgoing mail I chose Sender and
copied-and-pasted my Trill at pcwize address.

Piece of cake. No regular expressions. I did it. It works. LOL
I am sooo happy!

redirecting html mail to gmail

2004-09-20 Thread jwayne
In TB, I've noticed that I receive two types of HTML mail: both show the full
message as message.html attachment, but they differ in one type being able to
the delete the attachment.

I can't delete the html attachment with
  Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="--(some long number)"

but can with
  Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1
and
  Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="==_MIME-Boundary-1_=="

I've been redirecting lots of my email to gmail. When I redirect or forward the
former kind (where one cannot delete the HTML piece), the HTML message will be
an attachment to the text message. The latter type, however, will show up
properly (i.e., as it was originally intended): as a single HTML email message.
Is there anything I can do so that I get all of my gmail messages to show up as
originally intended?

(Btw, I have three gmail invites. If anyone needs an account, I'll send an invite
to the first three that write me here.)

I understand you to mean that you want a Virtual Folder called VF to
include all the messages in the Junk folder.

I'm using v2 and Bayesit, but I guess my there is something similar to
this method that will work with v3.

I would have to do this:

  1. Set up a new color group. Give it the unique identifier Junkie.
Have the Junkie use the system default color and type font.
Note: Junkie never will be associated with any messages, except
those in the Junk folder (see step 3, below).

   TheBat! => Options => Preferences

 Messages

   Colour Groups and Font

 etcetera

  2. Have the anti-spam process mark each message it sends to the Junk
  folder as read.

   TheBat! => Options => Prefences => AntiSpam

[x] Move messages marked as junk to the Junk folder

[x] Mark stored junk mail as read.

  3. Set up a new Read messages filter. Use the filter to copy all
messages from the Junk file to Junk file. Use the filter to make the
  messages' color group Junkie.

TheBat! => Account => Sorting Office

Read Messages => New Rule

  Name [ColorJunk]

Source folder [Junk]

Move message to folder [Junk]

 4. Select your virtual folder, VF. Have the filter look in the Junk
folder and select all messages in color group Junkie.

 Higlight the VF

   TheBat! => Folder => Properties

 On the Filter tab:

   press [Select Folders]

 [x] Junk

   press [Add]

 OR Colour is Junkie

I don't use that PGP disk, but Scramdisk, and judging by the description
I had read on, they work on same principle (with difference that
Scramdisk needs no installation, and is able to work from a diskette;
just one exe and dll). Scramdisk will dismount all containers
automatically once Windows is restarted or shutdown, so this is the only
advantage; that is, nobody could access the files you keep in
containers, without passwords, even if your HDD is stolen. (I like
Scramdisk's password mechanism as well: you may set a set of 4 x 40+
characters as a password. (-: Therefore, you could write a novel, in a
weirdest language you could imagine/create. Lots of time to crack it

What you can do is creating an incoming filter that duplicates the
filter conditions you've set for your VF. This filter can export
everything it catches to your preferred export file. Note that this is
technically not the same as copying everything from your VF to your
export file. When you change the settings for your VF, you'll have to
change your incoming filter too.

Your filter looks alright to me. The messages caught by this filter
get a flag, colour group, status and are handed back to the sorting
office for continued processing.

I think that you're complaining that messages after being processed by
this filter won't trigger other filters, but I'm not sure about that.

I see no reason why your other filters aren't triggered by the
appropriate messages even when those messages were processed by your
included filter.
Did you try to disable this filter to check whether the messages will
be processed by your other filters when you're not messing with flags?
Do you run a filter that's being triggered by flags and therefore
interfering with your list filters?

What TB version are you running?

No it won't, Pat. At least for me, each account had to be set up to
use the junk mail. I presently have 4 accounts I monitor and I have 4
different Junk Mail Filters. I guess you could set up a Virtual

But to answer your question, as far as I know, each account has to be

Caution, 0.6.6 is not a full release - it only contains the
plugin and the update text file.

People first upgrading their BayesIt should first unrar
0.6.5 to their BayesIt folder (right below the folder
containing TB's exe) and copy pcre.dll to the parent folder.
Then unrar 0.6.6 over 0.6.5.

Pat,

When I installed the plug-in, the program itself created the Junk Mail
itself so I didn't have to create them. Once you start getting Junk
Mail it will create the folder. That is as long as you have it
configured that way. :)

Ok, that's reasonable. Without keys GnuPG cannot do much. So, where
are your keys? Here they are in the GnuPG folder, and they are found
without a problem. It can be possible, that you have to set a path
somewhere when your keys are in a different place. Sorry not to be
able to say where.

I also see the "decrypt message" button that opens the passphrase
dialog, but after I input a passphrase to decrypt the message, the
"Save Attachment As" dialog opens instead of it being shown in
cleartext in, say, the preview pane.

The different version numbers relate to different anti-spam plug-ins for
TB!

0.6.00 is for BayesIt
1.5.4 is for BayesFilter

BayesIt seems to be going through lots of developments/problems at the
moment, so the numbers seem to be changing almost daily.

Strange Behaviour from The Bat!

2004-09-20 Thread Lawrence Johnson
During the download of mail from my mail server, The Bat! insisted on activating a
minimized application and bringing the window to the forefront with every piece of
mail. I tried reminimizing the window, without success. The Bat! brought it back on
the next item downloaded. I tried keeping The Bat! at the forefront, without success.
The Bat! brought the window back to the front. I even tried cancelling the
application. The Bat! chose another minimized application to bedevil me.

This has happened to me on two separate occasions. It doesn't appear to be serious.
After cancelling and restarting The Bat, everything seems to be OK.

I was merely curious if anyone else had seen this peculiar behavior.

No stability problems. No CPU usage problems. (Pentium 4 chip, here.)
No filter or lost message problems.

However: Not running IMAP. Not running Bayesit or any other anti-Spam.
Not running filters with more than one Condition box.

Version 3.0 worked for me--I just simply decided it was time for me to
test betas.

Did see some Invalid HTML error boxes appear inappropriately in betas
v. .06, .08, .11, .14, IIRC. A show-stopper for some, never got more
aggressive for me than an annoyance. Have had no Invalid HTML error
boxes at all in beta v. 15, so far.

YMMV. My best advice to Wil is to try it. It is simple at present to
roll back to a v. 2.xx. And if you save your key, you can then rejoin
v. 3.xx at whatever point it does become stable and meet your needs.

IMO it's worth the upgrade for the New Filter System, alone. But there
are a few other pluses--it does seem to be a little faster for me.

Also, try lurking at tbbeta. A lot of interesting information is to be
obtained there.

I think my problems are related to BayesIt. TheBat itself seems to be OK, but is
useless for me without the spam support. So, if they can get BayesIt fixed, I will
say it is more stable, however, for me...
v3 base will not stay up at all and I was instructed by support to run with 3.0.0.8
which is stable without BayesIt.

I'm all in favour of it, but YMMV
I've seen that you've already gotten a negative answer, so that means
you'll have to decide for yourself.

Some people downgraded again to 2.12, that means two things. Not
everybody likes it and if you don't like you can easily go back.

I have had no stability problems. The post-release Beta, which is
not really appropriate for discussion on this list, is working fine
for me, and my CPU is old and slow, although there's plenty of
memory available.

BayesIt! upgrade

2004-09-20 Thread Joe
Hello,

I am having a crash about twice a day and was told the problem is with BayesIt! 0.6.00.
I was also told that the problem is fixed in 0.6.4. Where/how can I get the upgrade
to BayesIt?

I don't have any experience with v2, however, I will say that V3 is not stable, at
lease for me. I have tried to install the latest betas 1, 14, 15 and all crash on
startup for me. 3.0.0.8 is the version of v3 that works for me. I love all the
features and just can't see myself going back to thunderbird or outlook, however, I do
hope they get this thing stabilized soon.

Sounds familiar. I've heard it before and I could reproduce that.
Though I'm not sure about the version that bug was encountered.
However I can't do that anymore, so I guess that it's fixed in the
current beta.

IIRC Don't try to change the width of the columns in the folder pane,
they'll show the same problem and can only be fixed in the registry.

Complete Automatically Case sentitive

2004-09-20 Thread Joe
Hello,
On a new message when I enter a name it does an auto complete from my address book.
This is cool, problem is it is case sensitive. If I have an entry of Andy and I type
andy it does not auto fill.
Is there a way to make this case insensitive?

Dear Simon,

No it isn't. (well it might be using a recursive regex macro contruct
but it's non-trivial). My own solution is to work out whether or not
I'm communicating with a TB compatible user and have either:

JB> Joe Bloggs wrote

or

> Joe Bloggs wrote

,--/ ISBAT Quick Template \--
%SETPATTREGEXP="(?im-s)^X-Mailer\:.*(Bat!|Becky|Gnus|slrn).*$"%-
%REGEXPBLINDMATCH="%HEADERS"%-
%_bat=%SUBPATT(1)%-
if:'%_bat'='':'%-
%SETPATTREGEXP="(?im-s)^Reply-To\:.*(TB.*)@$"'
%REGEXPBLINDMATCH="%HEADERS"%-
%_bat=%SUBPATT(1)'%-
%_bat
`--\ End /--

My quote insertion macro start with this:

,--/ QX \--
%_inits="%Qinclude(Initials)"%-
%IF:"%QINCLUDE(ISBAT)"="":%-
"%QUOTESTYLE('=')":"%QUOTESTYLE('=%_inits')"%-
`--\ End /--

The initials macro is the 3 macro set on the FAQ Macro Library page.

Quoting messages on reply

2004-09-20 Thread Simon Elliott
Hi

I've currently set my quoting when I reply to messages to be initials.
This means that if I'm replying to Joe Bloggs, the quoted text looks
like:

JB> This is text that
JB> Joe Bloggs wrote

A user of Agent tells me that if I use this format, Agent doesn't
highlight the quoted text. So I'd like to change my reply quoting to
look like this:

>JB: This is text that
>JB: Joe Bloggs wrote

Is this possible?

Hold down ALT and click on the new folder to move it up and down to
where you want it in the list.

If it got created inside another folder, and you want it as part of
the main list: right click on the folder and click Move Out (or
whatever you want to do).

Now right click on the folder and click Properties.

Select the Filter tab.

Click to put a tick in the Use Filter tick box.

Create the filter condition.

E.g: Age is less than 1 day

Click OK

Right click on Folder agian at the top and click Refresh just to make

Message headers disappear

2004-09-20 Thread admin
When I'm viewing messages in the windoiw that lists the contents of a
mailbox:

if I place the pointer over the join between headers, to change the
width of that column and press the left mouse button to drag the width
of the column, the column instantly shrinks to 0 (zero) width.

It can only be restored by a right click and 'manually' changing the
width using the numerical adjustment box.

Is this just me?
