Global Inbox

2005-03-01 Thread Mike Rourke

I have been looking for an option in TB! that will allow me to have a
global inbox for my POP3 accounts, like the Local Folders on
Thunderbird for those of you have used that.

I will write an intelligent answer like I had in the beta mailing list for html
display support.
Use thunderbird if you are not happy!!

no seriously, good idea and in the mean time, just use filter to get all your
email in the same inbox

no UTF-8 support in TB?

2005-03-01 Thread Roman Katzer
Is there no UTF-8 (Unicode) support in TB?

I got a mail encoded in UTF-8 and the special characters are displayed
wrongly.

There is support but it is no good. What happens is that TB switches
from the PTV (plain-text viewer) to the RTV (rich-text viewer)
automatically to display a message that is UTF-encoded. One of my
favourite annoyances.

RK I got a mail encoded in UTF-8 and the special characters are
RK displayed wrongly.

Check which font you have set under:

Options / Preferences / Viewer/Editor / HTML Viewer.

It appears that the font there does not support the special characters
you are missing.

TB doesn't have a real global inbox.
It's rather strong built on separated accounts, that's the strength of
its sorting office etc, a global inbox would more or less restrict
those possibillities.

What you can do is create a common filter that drops everything in the
inbox of your main account.

Another option would be to create a common (not belonging to any
account) folder where you could filter your messages to.

As last option you could use a virtual folder that contains the mail
from all of your inboxes. That way you'd have the best of both worlds:
all (new) messages in one folder and still all messages in the account
they arrived into.

TFCuse filter to get all your email in the same inbox

That's good, but I am trying to pare my account tree down to just my

It seems to have special characters, but the wrong ones are used.
I'll try to attach a screenshot. It's about 3KB in size.

I've just got a catchall filter at the bottom of my filter tree that puts
everything that makes it that far into the very top folder in my account tree
called General Inbox.

I've got four accounts, but nothing gets filtered into any of them, ever. None
of my folders are attached to the accounts, they're all free-standing.

splitting msgs

2005-03-01 Thread Jan Rifkinson
Battyfolk,

Can someone explain the splitting message option, default is 100kb.

So let's say I'm sending out a msg with 4 small photos within the msg
as photo inserts in an html photo.

In my case TB! split this msg into 4 msgs. How does TB! split up the
msg, between photos or what?

What settings do some of you use?

Thanks.

Richt-click in the message body and see which encoding is used. It
probably shows None. Change that to Central European (ISO or
Windows) or to Latin-9. See whether that helps.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had tried and not mentioned that.
It didn't help. As you suspected correctly, the encoding shown was none,
setting it to Auto made it choose Central European. Neither that nor
Latin-9 worked.

Is this worth a bug report?

Encoding and CopyPaste

2005-03-01 Thread Jack
Hello all,

I've been having problems with copying Chinese
characters from TheBat! editor. I can paste
native encoding of Chinese (GB2312) in thebat
editor and it displays OK. But when I copy from
the editor, and paste it into another editor,
or paste in the same TheBat message editor, some
question marks or strange characters are displayed.
It seems that the characters above 0x7f are converted
improperly. Below are two lines of characters. The first
line shows ok if you have Chinese support. The second
line was copied and pasted from the first line but
it's different. Any solutions to this problem?

Look at the message headers first. Unless the charset is declared there,
it's not a bug in TB, but a bug in whichever client generated that message.

I've noticed that The Bat can't display UTF-8 encoded HTML messages. Plain
text version of the same message is displayed OK. Just another bug of The
