Notice the square brackets in the middle. That's what I got when I copied and
pasted the perfectly readable HTML message with an embedded GIF file.

I guess I was too optimistic, TBUDL removed the entire HTML content not just
the image!.

So, Elodie, for purposes other than this list ;-) , version 2.11 (and
presumably 2.12) will create HTML messages with embedded images quite easily.

I don't have much call to use it, but I do remember posting something

thread was. I think the person who asked was in the art business, and
it would be great for that.

Agreed. It would be great for that. I'm really glad The Bat! can
safely do it.

I'm so confirmed, in general, to Plain Text that I had completely
missed the capability, whenever it arrived.

Well, good news! And I learned something about v. 2.xx, too.

Now: where in v. 2.xx is the insert image function?

I think, among all of us, that Elodie has all of the questions posted
answered except this one. Is it in the Format drop-down menu of the
HTML Only editor (Edit Mail Message) window--as it is in 3.xx?

Like Dwight, I'm quite sure I don't have a copy of v. 2.11 or v. 2.12
any more. Although, I know where to get one, if absolutely necessary.

For me, this has been an extremely interesting thread!!

When I switched to HTML/Plain Text mode for this reply, a formatting toolbar
showed up between the header fields (at the top of the Edit Mail Message
window) and the body (where I am now typing). It has things like: Font
selection, Bold-Italic-Underline buttons, text justification buttons, etc.
There is also an icon that I guess looks like a picture hanging by a wire. When
I hover the mouse cursor over it a tooltip pops up saying Insert Picture.
Clicking it opens a File Open dialog to find a picture file (gif, jpg, etc.)
Oddly, there do not seem to be any corresponding Menu selections for these
formatting functions!

I hope that TBUDL lets at least the Plain Text portion of this message through!

Thank you for the clear description.

I missed encountering the HTML capabilities of TB! 2.xx because I was
running Plain Text View and the MicroEd editor during the time that I
used that version.

I recall a lot of discussion pro and con the safety issues in the
*viewing* of HTML images in TB!--in an external viewer, I think--in
2005.

From that I had jumped to the (unwarranted, it turns out!) conclusion
that TB! could not send embedded (so-called in-line) images. Plainly
it can, and that's a plus for many people in the business world, I'm
sure.

And I'm now better equipped to offer advice on implementing that
capability to anyone who asks me for it in the future.

So, thanks a mil!

You mean when you right-click the group in the AB and then select

In that case, the group template is used for all contacts in that group.

That could be a problem with the so-called greylisting spam protection
on the mailserver that runs the listmailer.

Depending on the implementation or combination with other anti spam
measures, some mail servers may have problems with it.

I don't believe you can alter the way those
servers treat mail. Many use such servers
precisely to avoid inline surprises. I left OE
for TB! precisely to avoid surprises in my mail
program. I use the Bat's plain text viewer. I
rarely ever go to the picture tab for anything.
Wish those servers treated me as well. Every
stinking piece of mail from AOL or ones of its
clones comes in as a two-parter, HTML below, plain
text (my preference) for viewing on top. Egads!

Does it show correctly if you send it to accounts with other
providers? Are mails with embedded pictures shown correctly at aol
friends when sent with another email client?

You can send me an example by PM, if you want. I think TB sends them
correctly, and I will dissect the HTML code to see what the problem
