Yes, sounds just as tedious as editing deletion properties in lots of folders. -- Best regards MFPAmailto:expires2...@ymail.com We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars Using The Bat! v4.0.38 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Current version is 4.2.23 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

It's manually actuated for me, since I only open the Archived account when I need to look something up or do housecleaning. And it's a different filter for each folder, which is the tedious part of setup. The rule is "age greater than X days" with the X chosen to reflect the traffic in each folder. Some are 30 days, others are 365, and most everything in between. -- Jim Kyle Using The Bat! v4.0.34 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 3 on VMWare Server 2 under Xubuntu 8.04.3 with AntiSpamSniper Version 3.0.1.2 Current version is 4.2.23 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Is that a manually activated or an automatic filter? What is the rule? (Age is greater than X days?) Is it different filter for each folder you archive, or is there some way of expressing the destination folder so that you can use the same filter for multiple folders? > from the > currently selected folder to the similarly named one in > the archive account. Jack said he found the controls for moving folders around to be very cumbersome, and I have sometimes found it easier to move the contents around rather than the folder itself. Of course, if the folder has lots of messages they take a while to move. I have a similar situation, and adopted the passworded "archived account" solution suggested by MFPA but with some slight differences: rather than moving entire folders, I've created folders of similar but not identical names under the archive account, and created filters in the Sorting Office to move messages from the currently selected folder to the similarly named one in the archive account. Actually I don't move ALL messages, just those older than 6 or 12 months, so that I retain my correspondence history while keeping the current working folder relatively uncluttered. This does require a bit of tedious effort to set up initially, but once that is done it's quite easy to automate the actual cleanup process...

I see no real option other than putting in the work to do it manually now, but I'd suggest setting things up to archive automatically in future. Rather than moving the folders themselves to "Archive" it might be less fiddly to select all messages in the folder and use "copy to folder" or "move to folder" to put all the messages into a new duplicate folder at the Archive location. One way to achieve the automation is to use "folder-specific deletion settings" (Alternative deletion, move to specified folder, use alternative deletion for purging) in conjunction with "keep messages in base for X days" and "On exit...remove old messages". All of those are in "Folder Properties" (but not in the case of Inbox, Outbox, Sent Mail, and Trash folders). I would suggest placing your archive folders in a password-protected account. Then if the archive grows large, it doesn't slow down TB! except when you open that account to view your archived messages. -- Best regards MFPAmailto:expires2...@ymail.com Versifiers write poems for it. The Work folder has many accounts that change often. Overtime, some need to be archived. If I renamed the folders, I would be in same situation of having to move a large number of accounts the other way. -- Jack Current version is 4.2.23 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
