Re: TB! v5.2.2 doesn't work with GnuPG - can't query passphrase in batch mode

Wow, nobody else has tried 5.2.2? I'm using TB with GnuPG 2.1.0 that works just fine. Maybe time for an upgrade? Thanks for the suggestion, but 1.4.12 is the current version of the GnuPG 1.x product. My trial of TB! 5.2.2 was under Wine on an Ubuntu setup, and the problem persisted whatever version of Windows I set Wine to act as. Which Windows version are you using? TBBeta has a thread from August 2011 which seems to identify in the Beta versions 5.0.22.3 and 5.0.22.7 (when used under XP but not Vista) exactly the same problem I encountered with the production version 5.2.2 of TB! http://www.mail-archive.com/tbbeta@thebat.dutaint.com/msg105204.html. -- Best regards MFPAmailto:expires2...@rocketmail.com Don't cry because it is over - smile because it happened Using The Bat! v4.0.38 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Current version is 5.2.2 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

I only tested for a couple of hours, mainly under Wine on my Ubuntu partition, and all was going well until I found TB! would not talk to GnuPG. In order to continue my investigations into v5.2.2 however, I did install it on one of my netbook test computers. On both computers, I have GnuPG v2.x installed (the one that comes packaged with Gpg4Win v2.1.0). Thanks. It sounds like you have put in quite a bit of effort here. With regards to GnuPG, everything works as expected - on both TheBat 5.2.2 and Thunderbird. I'm not using GnuPG v1.4.12, so if there's something going on between that particular version of GnuPG and your TB v5.2.2, I can't comment. An old thread on the TBBeta list http://www.mail-archive.com/tbbeta@thebat.dutaint.com/msg105204.html appears to report the same symptoms with beta versions 5.0.22.3 and 5.0.22.7 in August 2011. I see nothing on the bug tracker, so would have expected the issue had been resolved before reaching a release version. I'll look into using GnuPG 2.x next time I test. -- Best regards MFPAmailto:expires2...@rocketmail.com Gypsy Dwarf Escapes Prison: Small Medium at large Using The Bat! v4.0.38 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Current version is 5.2.2 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: v5.2.2 annoyance: x bytes of storage space released confirmation. Can't seem to disable this notification.
Hi, I realize it's generally bad form to reply to myself, but here's an update: Problem solved (it was my fault - overlooked an option)... On Saturday, October 06, 2012, at 12:09:02 PM PST, I wrote: I do a bit of manual folder management while reading email, which often includes deleting selected messages from folders. With my previous v4.x, the bytes saved confirmation message only appeared when manually compacting a folder. Now it appears every time I delete any messages from any folder! This necessitates an additional mouse click or enter key operation to close this new and generally useless notification. I'm glad that storage space is released, but I don't need to be told just how much is released every time I delete a message! I've looked all over the preferences, and can't seem to find a way to disable this annoying feature. The solution to my problem was this: In Account Properties | Mail management | Deletion, there's this option: Compact emptied folders automatically With this option, selected on this level (account level, as opposed to individual folder level), every time I would right-click on a folder and select empty, it would also compact the folder, giving me the bytes saved message. I've reset my account options to what I prefer -- to just compact everything upon program exit. All is well again, and I've now restored v5.2.2 on my main computer. Sometimes, it just takes a while to figure out precisely what type of idiot I've been in a given situation. I usually figure it out. Eventually. :) -- Melissa PGP Public Key: http://tinyurl.com/2cmefzy TB! v5.2.2 on Windows 7 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 pgpuzgwCyUlcr.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 5.2.2 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
