In the Account Properties box under "mail management" the only box or button
checked, is "Leave messages on server" with no limitation on the number of
days. The box "Invoke automatically at each mail check" is not checked, and
the one underneath that, "Show all messages left on the server." is thus grayed
out.

What am I specifically looking at in order to check POM settings? Under
account properties and "general" the account name is the gmail address. The
word "recent" is not appended to the address.

You could try what it says at https://www.msoutlook.info/question/583, although
it's 9 years old, so google probably changed the interface three dozen times
since.

"Gmail has some specific POP3 options which offers you some additional control
about what gets downloaded by Outlook (or any
other mail client).

Enable POP for all mail

In Gmail you can find these option in the Forwarding and POP/IMAP section;

Click on the gear icon in the top right corner next to your name and
choose; Mail settings
Click on; Forwarding and POP/IMAP
Enable the option: Enable POP for all mail (even mail that’s already been
downloaded)

Gmail - Enable POP for all mail (even that's already been downlaoded)
POP3 option in Gmail to download all mail."

Check your POP settings in TB!. If your username is your gmail address prefixed
with "Recent:", you'll only get the last 30 days worth.

No message loaded

2020-09-23 Thread Susanne
Hello,

over the past 2 or three days, TB seems to lag quite a bit.
New messages show "no message loaded" for up to 5 seconds, before
  the message finally shows.

Any ideas what the reason could be?

I'm using IMAP with Gmail, and haven't changed anything lately.

TheBat! advertises support of insecure TLS cipher suits

2020-09-23 Thread Andrew Savchenko
Hello,

While trying to make sense of the appalling connection success rate in
v9.2.3.0, I have looked at the TLS session and observed the following:

1. After receiving ACK, TB! starts ClientHello advertising support of 26
different cipher suits. Some of them look questionably at best and
   concerning at worst.

3. In particular TLS_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5 is prohibited by IETF (see the RFC
7465) and 3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA has rather limited use in 2020.

I am not quite sure if this affects failing sessions, but perhaps RitLabs can
restrict the list to something more up-to-date?

For example:

1. ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256
2. ECDHE-ECDSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384
3. ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384
4. ECDHE-ECDSA-CHACHA20-POLY1305
5. ECDHE-RSA-CHACHA20-POLY1305
6. DHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256
7. DHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384

Additionally, I would check if TB! has TLS 1.0/1.1 disabled. v1.2 has turned
12 years old last month :)

This seemed like a great idea. However, when I tried to do that, it only
downloaded the headers for mail from Aug 23 - Sept 23, 2020. That is no use.
That was about 4500 messages. But, I have 288,000+ messages on the Google
server for this account.

I don't see anything under "properties" that restricts downloading to the past
month. What am I not doing right?
