Character Set Problems

2002-11-05 Thread 8o4q-skup
Hello, fellow Bat-lovers.

As some of you know, I have a particular interest in using Korean
with The Bat! For some time now, I've been aware that my home
installation handled Korean differently (better) than the one at
work. I've finally decided to try to track down why.

Even though I've been running 1.61 in both locations, View |
Character Set displays more character sets at home than at work. For
example, it has Japanese (not Korean, however). I even installed the
latest beta at work to see if I would get the additional character
  sets, but no such luck.

All I have here are Latin-1, Central European (2 entries), Cyrillic
(7), and Ukrainian. Can anyone tell me how I can get the missing
character sets? I'm sure I installed something in the past that gave
them to me, but I just can't remember what 8-(.

That might not have anything to do with the problem. It might just
be the difference between Windows XP and 2000, for all I know. But
  it's worth a try.

Anything else that could account for the difference between the two
  locations?

Ok, that worked, but not as expected. Someone wrote that this way all
messages with the chosen criterion - regardless of the folder they are
in - would be shown. No, I only get those in the folder I am in ...

I think that what they meant was that if you switch to another
folder, messages will be displayed using the same criterion--not all
  at once--maybe?

Blank Message Pane in XP (Was: Re: New Version updates... 1.60m... Groan)

Earlier today there was a report that the message pane goes blank in
XP. I replied saying that I'd seen the problem, but that it apparently
had gone away once I turned off the HTML view.

Now, several hundred messages later, I can tell you that I haven't
seen the problem with HTML view turned off.

Well, maybe

I don't know if this is the same problem, but in my message list,
message [EMAIL PROTECTED], Re: m v. h
from Michael Cusac, is followed by a message from Michael Disabato with
subject Re: Time for a TB! newsgroup?

With the preview window open, when I move from Cusac's message to
Disabato's, Cusac's continues to display in the preview window
(headers and all). If I double click on Disabato's message, it opens
in a new window, but is blank with no headers

And it didn't help to turn off HTML view.

I'm running 160h (not brave enough to upgrade to m!).

this is the exact issue i had earlier, except when I opened the

Well, yes, but this is true for a valid message, too?

 I also was running XP.

It has to do with an invalid sig.
upgrade to latest, which is what i did and it solved the issue.
Or, do what was told to me, can't remember who now?
(insert credit here) said: goto options/smime/microsoft
then check ok, and look at the message again. it should show.

I tried this and it works fine now

I switched back to internal after the upgrade, now i see the invalid
sig attachment versus not being able to open the message or using
 MS
 /ramble

Upgrade to 160m? (It does look like you're running it.) I definitely
have to have it set to Microsoft with h.

I haven't used S/MIME, so have no clue what's going on here, but it
  worked. Thanks.
