MIME Forwarding via template?
TBUDL, Under account properties where the forwarding template is set, there is an option for "Use MIME standard for forwarding". Is there a way to control this using a template macro, rather than a global account setting? -=Elden=- http://www.moondog.org -- __ Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org

Simple regex request
TBUDL, I hope that this request is simple enough that I can post here as opposed to TBTECH. I don't know much at all about regular expressions, but I'd like to request one that I can use with my reply templates. The default reply template uses %OFromFName as the greeting. What I would like to do is use the first name in my address book entry for the original author if one exists, otherwise go ahead and use the %OFromFName. Many thanks in advance. -- -=Elden=- http://www.moondog.org -- __ Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org

If there's no ACM address book entry, then it will fall back on the original 'from' ACM first name. Thank you much. ACM The address book macros are explained in the help. Hmm, ok sorry for not looking there first. I have to admit, the whole logic of that macro you gave me is a little lost on me... so I don't know that the help would have been much help considering that I don't even understand the concept here. I've been a programmer for 20 years, and in my way of thinking this statement would cause the contents of %ABofromFIRSTNAME to be replaced with the contents of %OFROMFNAME. -- -=Elden=- http://www.moondog.org -- __ Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org

This IMHO is very odd behaviour. If I set the subject column at a certain width, it is because that is the width I wanted it. Early on in this thread, this seemed to be what John was referring to... but I think that was lost in the shuffle. -- -=Elden=- http://www.moondog.org -- __ Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org

I have noticed this behaviour as well and thought it was rather bizarre that The Bat! would widen the subject field on it's own volition. I would rather expect that I would set it at the width I prefer and The Bat! would leave it alone. -- -=Elden=- http://www.moondog.org -- __ Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org

I for one would love to see a new feature added to The Bat!... and that is the ability to configure the flying bat icon in the same way that sound for new mail can be configured. I want the flying bat to animate when I have new mail in some folders, but not for example when I have 500 unread emails in my mailing list folder. To not be able to toggle this kinda defeats it's purpose. I have requested this feature via the wish list... and would encourage others that see the usefulness of it to do the same. -- -=Elden=- http://www.moondog.org -- __ Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org

If they do, they will be blackholed in fairly short order. Normally, the ISP restricts this by only allowing mail to be sent if it originates from one of their own IP addresses, (ie the pool used for their dialup services or dsl connections). Essentially, sendmail checks all mail being relayed, (not destined for the account of one of the ISP's customers), against a table of allowed IP addresses. I really don't think the from email address on the email makes any difference here, but rather the IP it originates from. -- -=Elden=- http://www.moondog.org -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org

The from email address has no bearing normally... the important thing is that you send email using the server of the ISP you're connected to. They will know by that that you are one of "theirs" and allow you to send anything you like. This assumes that there is no authentication on the SMTP connection... perhaps an ISP could allow authenticated users to send regardless of their IP, and I would imagine some do.
Thread reading
TBUDL, I've noticed that reading this group by threads is kind of a pain. I find myself have to expand several/many branches of a thread to get to one new message at the end of the tree. It would be nice if there was a way to expand all threads, or collapse all threads. Perhaps this feature exists and I've missed it? My newsreader is Gravity. It not only has this option but you can also set the default to start with threads expanded or collapsed. It's kinda nice having that. -- Best regards, -=Elden=- http://www.moondog.org -- Come sign my guestbook! Selective Download in the Sorting Office
Greetings, I am curious what the rules under the "Selective Download" portion of the "Sorting Office" are for. This does not seem to be documented in the help. I'm assuming this is for handling a message on the server prior to download... ie killing it or ignoring it and avoiding downloading it if conditions are met? -- -=Elden=- http://www.moondog.org -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org
