Hello Jenny,

How did you revert to 4.2.44.2?
I tried to install it on top of v5, but as you see below I'm still on 5.0.8.

With 5.0.8 my computer runs out of memory and it won't finish the scheduled
backups.
Right now The Bat! is using 1897 MB.

I'll keep that in mind. It wasn't the case here, though, these were working
folders, that just disappeared.

The folders that kept coming back had funny names; the fist instance was
called folder name;2FS and the next was folder name;3B 2FS.
Third was folder name;3B 3B 2FS and now you can see the pattern for the
following recovered folders.

In one of my accounts sent mail resides in the Out-folder to be sent
again and again and... until I eventually delete or move it.

As a check I tried sending mail to one of my other addresses and the
mail _is_ sent, but just isn't moved to the Sent mail folder (or where
the filters dictate).

There was some kind of crash, that I can't give any specifics about,
before this started and as a precaution I wanted to re-boot. I shut
down TheBat! and it seemed to do so, but thebat.exe was still running.
I found this out when I tried to shut down my pc and it wouldn't let
me. So, ctrl-alt-del - stop thebat.exe - shut down pc.

Any suggestions?

Version 1.60 - clashes with templates I've made

2002-04-09 Thread Hans Henrik Scheel

Hello List.

Have had The Bat! for years now (since 1.38, I think) and really like
it, but here's a puzzler.

My newly installed 1.60 is acting up.
When replying to or creating a message the edit window freezes; you
see the body window and the menu line, but the address fields are
transparent. And then you have to ctrl+alt+del when tired of waiting.

This only happens with templates I've made, either on the folder or
address book level. Account level is ok.
Also, it only happens with templates, that look like this:

%CLEAR%-
%LANGUAGE=BR%-
%QINCLUDE=HiIr
%QINCLUDE=YoursHans
%QINCLUDE=citatGB
%QINCLUDE=file

that is, made up of other templates. Those with no %QINCLUDE in them
work fine.

My work-around is to move (ctrl+x) the templates (reply and new
message) to the memo section (of a folder or address). Close Bat!.
Open Bat!. Copy templates back to where they were; lo and behold, Bat!
works as intended!

If I find this too annoying, can I install 1.53d on top of 1.60
without problems? (And wait for the bis or 1.61).

Exactly. I have 'LAN and manual connection' enabled and so have no DU

In an earlier version of TB! I've had the Periodical checking stop on

At the time it happened I had a dial-up modem connection and was

1. If in 'Account properties' - 'Transport' you've selected 'Combined
delivery' (checkmark at the bottom of window) you can press Alt+F2 and
it will send+receive for all accounts you've marked so (or else just
receive for an account not marked so).

2. Dunno.

Account - Properties - Options. Checkmark's at the top of options

MS The only solution to this is probably to create a separate folder and
MS set your filter to dump the messages there. I use this method myself
MS by having a folder called 'SpamTrap', this way I can still see which
MS messages were sent to me and which are probably spam so I can still
MS retrieve the ones that were inadvertently put their by my overzealous
MS filter.

I have done the same, my folder is called 'Possible spam'. In here
goes any mail that isn't addressed to me directly.
On this folder I've then put on a read filter that moves the message
to 'Spam' once it is read and I move on to another message. (The
filter kicks in if the sender has an '@' in the address).
If it's not to be put in 'Spam' I can still drag and drop it to
another folder before leaving the message.
On 'Spam' there are age and number limits to do the tidying up.

Norton Anti Virus 2001 and TB

2002-02-15 Thread Hans Henrik Scheel

1. What are the mechanics of below procedure? Does incoming mail go via

2. Isn't it enough to have Manually configured accounts ticked in

--
FAQ on Norton Anti Virus 2001 and TB:
This tip has been submitted by Geoff Lane - my thanks to him. Here's
the full procedure of how to manually configure NAV and TB to give
maximum protection with minimum disruption to mail downloads.
 1. Open NAV2001, either from the Start menu or by double-clicking
the system tray icon. In NAV2001, click Options.
 2. In the Options dialog box, click Email Protection, in the Action
list select Delete the attachment or Quarantine the attachment.
 3. Expand Email Protection, click Advanced, then select Enable
 Manual Configuration.
 4. Click OK, then close NAV2001.
 5. In TB, open the account properties sheet, then select Transport.
 6. In the User box, type your username at your ISP, followed by a
slash, followed by the name of your ISP's POP3 server. For example, if
your user name fred and the mail server name is mail.mydomain.com, you
should type fred/mail.mydomain.com in the User box.
 7. In the Mail Server box, type pop3.norton.antivirus, then click OK.

PGP and 'Save draft'

2002-02-05 Thread Hans Henrik Scheel

Hello List.

If you save as draft a message you have marked for PGP signing
and/or encryption, no encryption happens. Fair enough, it's a draft.
If you then go to the outbox and open the message you see that the
PGP options you chose have been switched off.

I would like TB! to remember my choices. Is this possible?
'Cause then you could just toggle the hourglass, if you found you were
done editing the draft (not having to open it).
