That's what I was thinking, but wasn't positive... >MRK> -- >Don't forget it's ... unless you fancy a >trout! ;-) Yes, I forgot the ... I have this in my TB templates, but I am currently sending these emails from work usingugh...Lotus Notes (only because we have to, corporate standard and all). So, I am manually typing in my sig and quote marks (oh joy). It is really one of the worst applications I've ever used (bad UI, non-standard behavior around every turn, memory and resource hog, etc.). Anyway, enough ranting... -- ~Mike Current version is 2.10.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Quick question on Signal Strings
I looked in the help file but ddin't see an answer to this. The "Signal Strings" that you use in fitlers...is it an exact match by default or is a partial match assumed? For example, say you have a filter setup to catch all email from a website "dumbdomain.com", can you just use the string "dumdomain.com" in the "Sender" column to catch things like: [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED])? I've noticed that some of my older filters have a signal string like: *dumdomain.com but I'm not sure if that asterisk is necessary or not... -- ~Mike Current version is 2.10.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Automate selection of From/Reply-to based on the To address?
I currently have my own domain and forward all of my email from it to my real home email address. I've setup distinct forwarding addresses for each mailing list that I subscribe to (ex. for mailing list "ABC" I am subscribed as [EMAIL PROTECTED]). This way I can see if I start getting spam from one of my subscriptions, and subsequently drop the subscription and/or change the email address. Usually I do not post much to these lists that I am subscribed to, but when I do, I have to manually change the From/Reply To of my response so that it appears to come from the correct address. Just curious if any one else is doing something similar and have they found a way to automate this within TB. I haven't played around with templates in TB yet, but was thinking that there might be a way to do something like: if responding(or new message) to ABC-mailing-list, set From and Reply-To to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Is that possible? -- Thanks, ~Mike Current version is 2.10.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: Bayesit plugin and filters executing order
Second follow-up question Does the Bayesit plugin merely base it's calculations on the subject and body of the message? Example, say if I subscribe to a mailing list called [EMAIL PROTECTED] and have filters setup to move these messages into a specific folder (based on the sender's address and or the fact that [ABC] would show up in the subject line). Occasionally (well, too often on some lists), a spammer sends some junk mail to the list... if I mark these as JUNK in TB, will it potentially have an effect on legit messages from that group? Perhaps adding the [ABC] from the subject line to the list of words associated with junk mail? Just curious if I should just ignore spam that comes in via a mailing list, or start flagging it as junk for the Bayesit plugin. ~Mike Current version is 2.04.7 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Bayesit plugin and filters executing order
I just upgraded to TB v2 after a long time on v1.x and started checking out the Bayesit plugin. I noticed that some of my messages that I have filters on (to move them into separate folders) were being flagged as junk mail. I have my filters setup in the following order: Multiple filters for mailing lists, known subject lines, etc. moved into their respective folders. 2nd to the last entry is a filter to move all messages from people in my address book into a special folder. Last entry is potential SPAM filter that moves everything that made it this far into a holding folder for later review. I'm assuming that the Bayesit plugin runs against all incoming mail prior to any of the filters, so that's why I am seeing some of my mailing list messages tagged as SPAM. I suppose I could add a bunch of entries to the Bayesit plugin's whitelist, but I hate duplicating what's already in my filters. Just trying to confirm my suspicions ~Mike Current version is 2.04.7 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Name It Your Way is a pretty decent bulk file renamer, that is highly configurable.
