I used the CSAPI Spanish and UK English spell checkers with Office 97
for some time without any problem. When I upgraded to Office 2000 I
could not use them on my desktop but didn't have a problem on my laptop.
Finally, when I upgraded to Office XP (which I use now) they wouldn't
work either on desktop or laptop.

I don't recall exactly where I got the solution from, probably from this
list a long time ago. The thing is that I have a "Proof.zip" file that
contains the following:

   mssp2_es.lex (Spanish dic.)
   mssp2_en.lex (UK English)
   Mssp232.dll (CSAPI engine?)
spelling.reg (Registry keys for everything to work)

The dictionaries and the engine I think are from my Office 97 but, in
any case, better than the ones included with TB.

The registry key settings (or the idea or explanation on how to set
them) if what I got somewhere else. Maybe from this list, as I have
said, but not sure. What is sure is the I did not "invent' them.

Just a few weeks ago I got a new computer and installed everything from
scratch, including Office XP (i.e. I did not upgrade from 97 to 200 and
then to XP). Then I placed 'my' dictionaries and engine in the
directories called for in the registry settings in 'spelling.reg' and
finally imported 'spelling.reg into the Registry and I have full access
to both CSAPI dictionaries from TB.

I have not tried (yet) to use the equivalent dictionaries from Office
2000 or XP, but I assume they will not work. But who knows.

Anyway, if any wants to try (at your own risk, of course) this is the
content of my 'spelling.reg' (watch out for possible wrapping of long
lines either at my or your end):

Isn't it possible to edit the registry entries manually?
Who knows more?

This is what is said on Microsoft's website:

[Start quote...]
CSAPI may not be used to call into Microsoft's spell check engine and
lexicon. For example, third-party developers who want to incorporate
spell check capabilities into their own applications may not use CSAPI
to access the spell check engine and lexicons that are installed by
Microsoft Office. Microsoft does not currently provide spell check
utilities for use in third-party products.
[...End quote]

Here's the URL for those who want to read the whole text:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;262605

The above text is related to MS Office 2000/2002(XP). So, basically
TB! is already violating the above quote.

If that is the case, the "help" (?) file is way out of date.

IIRC, this feature hasn't worked now for a few years?

I have a solution or workaround working, but I can't expand now. Maybe

CSAPI engine was changed in Office since Office 2000 and it is not
possible to use it, MS changed licence AFAIK.

CSAPI spell checker

2004-09-06 Thread Cyrille
Good morning,

The "help" file says "If you have Microsoft Office installed, The Bat!
will automatically detect the presence of CSAPI and uses it."

I installed and uninstalled v2.12.00 three times, but the TB! does not
detect them (MS Office 2003 on Win XP).

On another computer I use v.2.11 on Win ME (with MS Office 2000) , there everything
works
fine.

Some ideas ?

If TB does not detect them automatically, is there a way to show TB!
manually the path to the CSAPI spell checkers ?

CSAPI Spell Checker

2003-11-29 Thread Munango-Keewati
Hello TBUDL,

I'm a new user of THE BAT and subscriber to TBUDL, still trying to get everything
functioning to my taste.

I have the CSAPI spell checker installed on my machine (it came with Word, not
Office), but can't get it to work in The Bat. The Bat recognizes that it's there,
showing that option under Spell Checker > Language, but doesn't underline any of my
typos.

Also, is it possible to both use the check-as-you-write spell checker and the one that
runs automatically when you close a message to send it?

Yep. Exactly (as I wrote in another mail).
But TB! is developed from long time ago. SO, it isn't new problem and
should be fixed.

CSAPI spell checker

2000-10-04 Thread Michal Kozusznik

Hello

I've found this great mailer. I think it has almost features, the
mailer client should have.
But... I have troubles with CSAPI based spell-checker.
Sometimes it is active and sometimes not. Most time is inactive.
I have no point when it's switching off and why. It's not right, I'm
sure.
It happens with all CSAPI languages I choose. SSCE works fine.

Best regards
