Your instructions worked perfectly (except for one odd thing) and I'm back to 4.2.44.2 without losing any mail! The odd thing was a problem that occurred during the install when there was an apparently error due to a missing install resource. The missing resource turned out to be the installer for TB 4.0.16 which hasn't been on my system for quite some time. I also thought this was a good time to remove old, leftover TB entries from the Add/Remove software list, so after I ran the 5.0.8 uninstall, I ran the uninstall for The Bat! (no version number) which actually did /something/ and ended with a message box saying The Bat has been removed from your computer. Sad but true. There was a reference to the 4.0.16 installer in the database, but Control Panel would not show any options (like 'uninstall') for it, so I just deleted that entry with another tool. Regardless, I'm happy again. TB is working correctly for the first time in a couple weeks! When I upgraded from 4.2.42 to 5.0.8, the drop-list that normally shows the people I have marked as Favourites [i.e. Add this address to the instant address (Favourite) pop-up menu] vanished. When this happened once before, I was told to stop The Bat, delete some magic file and restart The Bat and the list was restored. Favorites
Hello Bats!, I recently "upgraded" my OS from Win95 to Win98 and after having done so I noticed the "favorites" down-arrow (next to the CREATE A NEW MESSAGE button) no longer produced a drop-down list of favorite addresses as it used to. I asked the list about this at that time and no one had any ideas. Since then I have had to un-install Win98 because of some other problems caused by poor machine preparation on my part. After Win98 was un-installed, I found that my favorites arrow worked just as it used to, producing a drop-down list of all those addresses that were checked as favorites. Now, having properly prepared the machine, I re-installed Win98 and once again, the favorites arrow no longer works. If I click on the arrow, the arrow is depressed and remains so until I click on it again. At no time will the list of favorites drop down. Checking, un-checking and re-checking an address book entry makes no difference. I apologize for asking the question again but I thought perhaps the additional information regarding the un-install and re-install of Win98 might make a difference in the list's response. It should be noted that the problems which caused me to un-install Win98 in the first place have been eliminated by properly preparing the machine prior to the re-installation. -- TIA, Jack LaRosa mail to:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Alabama, USA Message created 10:15:07 AM (GMT-6) on Thursday, September 07, 2000 = Using The Bat! ver. 1.45 (reg) under Windows 98 ver.4.10 build Service Pack A = -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org
