I corresponded with their support about this, but they insisted on the header being forged, because their spam filter reported "FORGED_MUA_THEBAT_CS". I had to disable their filter for one account. Peculiarly it only happens with the German lists, and then mostly, but not restricted, to users of TB! v1.x or 2.x. For the English lists I only have to whitelist the senders with (too many) numerals in their address. The only thing "still going on" is that spammers fake their mass mailings' X-Mailer header - and it will probably be that way as long as spam exists. The logic of ISPs blocking mails according to the content of the X-Mailer header is beyond any comprehension - how many of your 189 spam e-mails claim to be created by Outlook/Outlook Express? An excellent material for anthropologists of 21st century. *** Besides, and apart from this, Laurie, since you are new to TB, if you don't like the smell of a (not very fresh) trout, then you shouldn't top-post when you reply to a message (only bottom-posting is acceptable after the rules of the list), and you should have so called cut-mark, at the end of your message. The "cut-mark" consists of two dashes and one empty (letter) space, at the beginning of the line, after which you hit the enter button: "-- ". *** (It would be also very good if someone would include eventually these two basic informations/rules in the famous "Mission Statement", together with needed explanations what they serve for and how to apply them, so the new people could have a chance to avoid trouting for nothing. X-Mailer cannot be edited or otherwise changed from within TB! If you want to modify it for selected recipients, you will either need an external application like X-Ray Mail Assistant (http://xrayapp.com), or use the "User-Agent" header for your mailer information (see the headers in this message). Otherwise just turn it off from Options->Preferences->General. ISP's Blocking TheBat
I've recently had a couple of emails blocked from two different ISP's who claim The Bat is a known spammer. Of course I know this is bull, and I forwarded the info at Ritlabs on the subject to their IT Dept's to no avail. Can I use a filter to change the x-mail header when I send an email to these two people who use these ISP's? I know this won't stop future problems at unknown servers, but I email these two people frequently and it is a real pain to login to Yahoo Webmail to send my regular correspondence to them. Thanks to all - I've been a member and avid reader of this list for years but have never posted because I just rarely have a problem with this great application...Mike Current version is 3.80.06 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
