Easy, but that will cost you another beer ;-) I have called the QT "GMID", and it is only: ,- [ GMID ] | %OMSGID | %cursor `- The real trick is on how to use it. When I start recording the PowerPro macro I assume I am already on the root message of the thread I want to Ignore (I have selected it on the Message list pane), and the steps I record are as follows: 1.- Hit Ctrl+ This opens a reply to the root message with my standard reply template that leaves the cursor in the message body. 2.- Hit Ctrl+A This selects whole message body. 3.- Hit Del Guess what! ;-) 4.- Type the name of the QT, in my case GMID. 5.- Hit Ctrl+ To execute the QT. And, voila!, the MID appears as the first line of the message body and the cursor is placed, left justified, right under it. So... 6.- Hit To move cursor up. 7.- Hit Shift+ To select the whole line (MID) 8.- Hit Ctrl+C Copy to clipboard. 9.- Hit Alt+M To select the Message menu in the editor window. 10.- Hit C To Cancel and exit the reply message. And I believe you know how to proceed from here, once you have the MID in the clipboard. :-) > Anyway, so i initially was tabbing twice, and than {left}ing back... > but than i found I could alt{right} which only sometimes worked... it > turns out, that you can't use {alt}{right} but you must use the alt > character, %{right} > > anyway, this is what I use to add the clipboard contents to a new set > > %a^v%{right}%{down}{down}{down}{down}{down}{down}{enter}%c > > which adds a net set, pastes the clipboard, changes location to > kludges and closes the sorting office dialog... hope this gets it to > 100% :) I will certainly try later, maybe tonight. This could be highly > valuable if this does what I imagine it does. Can you mark a thread > as irrelevant, and than have all those messages automatically filed > as Read for example?... or...? Can I ask for another beer? ;-) Hmmm, I was quite sure I had once written a message explaining my Ignore filter, but I can't find it neither in my TBUDL folder nor in the list archives. I have found bits and pieces referring to it in different threads, but not the message I though I had written. Maybe I didn't Anyway, I'll explain. But first I will say that, although once set up it works quite well, it is not that easy or convenient to use. You will see why. As I say it is the first of my Incoming filters. Main Rule: Move from Inbox to Inbox. X Sender Yes Actions: Mark message as read Set message Colour Group to: Ignore (light gray). Options: Continue processing with other filters. Advanced: Nothing Alternatives: Here I include a number of sets, each one with a subject (or partial subject) or a message ID. For example, as I am not interested in PGP at all, one of the sets is: PGP Subject Yes When I include a MID, I usually include the MID of the first message in the thread. The cumbersome or not so easy part is adding a subject or MID to the alternatives. For a MID I have to: - show the RFC-822 headers of the message - look for MID - copy to clipboard - open Sorting Office and perhaps expand Incoming mail filters - select Ignore filter and its Alternatives tab - click on Add Set button - paste clipboard into Strings - select Kludges as location - and close See what I mean? That is why most of the times, when I see unread messages in a thread I am not interested in, I just Shift+Ctrl+M (one of the very few TB shortcuts I use). Actually, I did this Ignore filter mainly to prove the concept. I just wish TB would include a button (and a shortcut for those fond of shortcuts) to do what I describe above with a single click. In version 2 perhaps? One of these days I will install PowerPro and try to set up a macro, it's probably possible. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Just a question, so I understand your requirement right. You reply to a mail before you read it? In my case, I read messages, and then reply (or not). So I have never had your requirement. What situation would trigger such a user behaviour? -- Cheers, Thomas. Moderator der deutschen The Bat! Beginner Liste. Marking messages as Read when replied.
Hey everyone, Is there a easy way to automatically mark a message as read once a reply has been written/sent. I realise I could set up a filter to do this, but I want it to do it for every folder... - if i write a reply to a unread message, I want it to be marked as read, regardless of it's location... I don't want to have to set up 90 odd filters :) Maybe I'm missing something, but there isn't a way to make a generic filter that will run regardless of the folder, is there? cheers -- dan. e [EMAIL PROTECTED] w http://www.danhirning.com Current version is 1.61 | "Using TBUDL" information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
