Messages getting lost!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, I have paid to get that new version 2.0 of the bat and since then I keep having problems... many little bugs which annoy me. So yesterday I have decided to update to version 2.11.02. But today I have discovered that all my new mails just disappear when I get them. It seem that it downloads the new mails, but then I can't find them anywhere!!! Is it totally lost? I was waiting for very important mails today... I'm really angry. I have made many tests from different accounts to make sure the servers are working well and all may tests have been downloaded but lost by the bat. I check the same with outlook express, and things work perfectly. Later I have disabled that plugin named BayesIt! but nothing happened. I have closed and reopened the bat with no BayesIt pluging and then things seem to work again... What the hell is wrong? When the hell are todays and yesterdays mails? Thanks for help!!! I want my lost mails back... I don't know what that BayesIt is I have never configured it, and be sure I have tried to find my mails in every folder I have even those for junk mails. NOTHING!!! Please help. -- Alexandre Vialle Current version is 2.11.02 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

NOTHING!!! First, look at the status bar at the bottom of TB. It'll tell you where it moved all the messages to. Once you've figured that one out, I'd start looking at filters to make sure you don't have an errant filter moving / deleting your messages. Thirdly, I'd look and see if you have a selective download filter somewhere. -- Leif (TB list moderator and fellow end user). Tagline of the day: He who hesitates too long must change his underwear. Re[2]: Messages getting lost!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok I have no luck at all... All the files exists but are empty: 0 kB. I am so depressed about that adventure... Thank you for this work around anyway... Bayesit is really shitty. I mean it's not because a product is exciting that it must be included... Poor interface, no documentation, and not working... I'm a developer and I would never distribute such a product without having done minimum tests... especially when the product has a chance to behave in such a devastating way. And of course even if you have paid RITLABS for a licence, the licence says: "RITLABS makes no warranty that all errors have been or can be eliminated from the program software and, with respect thereto, RITLABS shall not be responsible for losses, damages, costs, or expenses of any kind resulting from using or misusing the program including without limitation, any liability for business expenses, machine downtime, damages experienced by you or any third person as a result of any deficiency, defect, bug, error or malfunction." CLEARLY RITLABS MAKES FUN OF ME. GOOD BOY YOU HAVE PAID THE LICENCE! AND WE DON'T CARE IF OUR PRODUCT WORKS OR NOT. I REALLY LOVE TO PAY FOR SUCH A THING!!! NEXT TIME REALLY I'LL THINK BEFORE PAYING A LICENCE FOR A SOFTWARE... I FEEL SO STUPID. Version 1 was working so well I thought version 2 would be better. Now I wonder what will happen to me next... -- Alexandre Vialle Le vendredi 11 juin 2004 à 08:06 vous avez écrit: RvdH> Hi Alexandre, RvdH> On Thu, 10 Jun 2004, at 22:45:45 [GMT +0200] (which was 22:45 where I live) RvdH> you wrote about: 'Messages getting lost!!!' >> What the hell is wrong? I didn't feel like I was violating this list's rules. In fact I was much more preoccupied by my problem, rather than any rules rape. But please accept all my excuses. MDP> Top posting, i.e., typing all your reply text at the top of your MDP> message and following it with all quoted text below, is not MDP> encouraged and we actually request that you not do so on this list MDP> because MDP> a) It makes it difficult to glean context from what you typed at the MDP>top of the message Oh it's true, using the scroll bar on the right side of a window is such a hard thing to do. I can understand really. For my part, I bought the Microsoft IntelliMouse with a special button rolling on the middle that helps you for this particular purpose. It works really great. I think this is a great thing to have to read anything, web, pdf, mails, source codes, etc. And most of my active colleagues agree with that. MDP> and MDP> b) It encourages excessive quoting. Oh I see. For my part I was not too good at school with summaries, this probably explains your remark. Also, I have no difficulty to type on a keyboard. It can be endless, even to say nothing. But I'll make a special effort for you. MDP> We would much prefer if you quote just that much of the message to MDP> which you're replying, so we know what it is you're referring to, MDP> and then below the quotation, type your response. Wow, thank you, I was not seeking respect, but at least I have that. As you can see now I sort of respect your preferences too now, most of them, so we are all very happy now. MDP> However, this is the format that most of the active members here MDP> prefer and all members are expected, and are being asked to use MDP> the format that will make most of the active membership here MDP> comfortable reading. I completely understand. But how active are they since they don't want to type, and don't want to scroll? For my part I much more compare activity with movement. No, I'm not only talking about the movement of the eyes! Fingers can move a bit too on the keyboard and at least one arm and one finger can move on the mouse. But the most important is the brain activity, this means the most active members are not in a deep coma or dead. :)) And for a comfortable reading, I recommend, silence, a pillow behind the neck, a bucket to urinate and a perfusion of water and glucose. :)) MDP> You'll likely get a more responsive group when you post using a MDP> style that is comfortable for them to read and understand. Oh since I already have the answer to my question: "The Bat is not the reliable product I thought it was", I wont annoy anyone here anymore I swear. I'll just uninstall The Bat, unsubscribe to this list, and let "the most active members" between them. Oh and I forgot to thank you very much for your respect, it goes right to my heart. MDP> To find out why these MOD messages are posted to the list instead of MDP> private mail, please read the welcome message you received when you MDP> subscribed. No thank you I don't care really. Well maybe the most active members do, so I'd better do it not to hurt them :)) Cordialement, -- Alexandre Current version is 2.11.02 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Jan, you must probably feel like one of the active members. I'm sorry if I have hurt you. I have definitely lost 2 days of mails with the bat and I think I still have a great sense of humor... But the moderator here seem to care much more about the appearance of my mail rather than my problem itself. But this doesn't mean I can't make fun of the situation... HUMOR!
