Hello Peter, On Sunday, December 1, 2002 at 1:03:06 PM you [PE] wrote (at least in part): PE> Tonight received a message which cause an AV in The Bat! PE> It is the last message in the InBox. Change the link you use to start The Bat! for it containing something like this: thebat.exe /focusu="joe";f="outbox" replace 'joe' with the name of one of your accounts. Keep the quotes. Now disable "Preview" ("View" / "Message Auto view" or ++E) and you should be able to delete the message. Roelof, > Did you already download it on your pc, or is it the act of > downloading the e-mail that triggers the AV-program? Sorry, I will have to change my abbreviations to suit this List. By AV I meant ::- AV = Access Violation By AV you mean AV = Anti Virus I didn't have my Anti Virus program running. I had disabled it so that that could not be the cause of the problem. > BTW Both of your messages I read just now were replies to other > messages. Re: Neverending loop
Hallo Peter, On Sun, 1 Dec 2002 23:03:06 +1100GMT (1-12-02, 13:03 +0100GMT, where I live), you wrote: PE> It is the last message in the InBox. PE> I have to reboot the computer after receiving it. PE> The problem is that when The Bat is run it tries to display the same message PE> that causes an AV. So I get the AV again. Did you already download it on your pc, or is it the act of downloading the e-mail that triggers the AV-program? In case it's the downloading, than use the mail dispatcher to select and delete the bad mail on the server: Account -> Dispatch mail on server -> All messages When it's already in your inbox and it's the viewing of the mail that causes problems: Disable your AV program Start TB Delete the infected mail (TB won't start the virus, unless you specifically tell it to open the the attachment) Compress your inbox (Folder -> Copmpress) Start your AV program This second path can be used in case the mail isn't downloaded yet, but the dispatcher is the safer way. BTW Both of your messages I read just now were replies to other messages. That's not the best way on this list and this is the reason: The Bat is able to thread messages properly, in order to see what I mean, just select the folder where you're storing the messages from this list. Go to the menu: view - view threads by - references. Now you'll see that all messages are lined up after the message to which they're first, second (or whatever) level replies to. You started what's essentially a new thread by replying to another message. That means it shows up as listed in another thread. Since people sometimes skip messages in threads they don't consider interesting (for lack of time). They might skip your message too, since they're not aware of the newly started thread. So next time you'd do yourself a favor by sending a new message in stead of a reply, because you're reaching a larger audience and one of those might have the answer you've been waiting for. -- Groetjes, Roelof Current version is 1.61 | "Using TBUDL" information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Neverending loop
TDUDL, Tonight received a message which cause an AV in The Bat! It is the last message in the InBox. I have to reboot the computer after receiving it. The problem is that when The Bat is run it tries to display the same message that causes an AV. So I get the AV again. How do I delete this message so that I am not in a 'Neverending loop'? (Using The Bat version 1.61 Business Edition under Win95) Regards, Peter Evans Current version is 1.61 | "Using TBUDL" information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
