I use Windows Commander to unpack .rar archives. Now, can I do that
also with self-extracting exes that are "rarred" (instead of "zipped",
I mean)? Does WinCom offer this feature or do I have to look under the
dust for my WinRAR?

I use it instead of WinZip. Take a look at:

I hope, I am not telling you a big secret, but installation version
of TB! *is* a WinRAR self extracting file. So you can simply open
TheBat_Setup.exe in WinRAR and extract all those files you want (like
I do since version 1.44, when I discovered it...).

Since installing TB! in March 99, I have not uninstalled it and I have
installed most of the betas and all of the full releases.

Just install the full release version over the beta. Only the relevant
files will be updated.

Problems tend to arise when some users install and older version over a
newer version. If the older version doesn't support some of the newer
file formats then problems will arise of course.

Oh yeah. For instance: I've never used a regular Bat! version. I
downloaded a beta directly and then kept wondering why I had no help
file present on my system. I still don't have it, because how *could*
I possibly obtain it, without first uninstalling my current beta
version (which I like and don't want to uninstall)?

The help file should be made available for a separate download. Marek
Mikus's Czech help file is there up for grabs, so is a German one --
why not the English help file?

That's why I always put the version in the file name when I
download a new version.

BTW, somebody interested in the_bat11.exe from nov-98? :-)
