Sure. Bitch to the person who sent it.

I agree that replying is no problem. I can easily tidy things up.

We're, however, actually speaking about reading the message itself
before replying. If a message received is badly formatted, then reading
it is more difficult than it should be, and one can't really do
anything about bad formatting in that situation.

That is what the justification commands are for. It can reformat quotes.
I use it quite liberally.

Well, I just tried it, wondering if they had fixed the problem, and it
still doesn't work. If you position the cursor with the mouse and go
straight to Alt+L, the left justify isn't properly done. You have to
give at least one keyboard input (I usually just hit one of the arrow
buttons) before using the shortcut.

The width of his message view window is the problem. It was too small.
Switching to a smaller font allowed more characters per line causing
the wrap effect not to occur which was messing up his formatting.

Monitor size has a connection only to the extent that it limits how wide
you can make the display panes. Try this: Double-click on a message to
open it in the Folder View. Maximize that window, then click on the Next
Message icon to refresh the display to see if the messages wrap
correctly. Try a few messages, because some messages always have stumps
no matter what you do. If most of your messages still wrap awkwardly,
then you will need to make your font size smaller.

Yes, no matter what, some messages always have stumps.

That's not because of the font size per se. It's because with a larger
font size you need to make the display pane wider. :)

I realized what the problem was when you included my messages among
those that are truncated. Changing your font to a smaller one would
have the same effect as increasing the width of the message body view
window, in that more characters may be displayed per line.

All, that I said earlier stands, in that, a badly formatted message
will be badly formatted when you get it and you can't really make it
look any better.
