John,

JP I disagree. The best customer you can have is the one you already
JP have. Proven fact. (or myth?)

in a retail sense at least, this is a proven marketing fact.

I'm not sure how it works in the mail client sales world - specially
when the registration is a once off fee...

Getting into the region of completely OT now, but there was a large
study done many years ago which showed that customers who've had a
problem with a company had the problem solved satisfactorily are more
loyal to the company than customers who've never had a problem at all. I
guess it's to do with feeling secure that problems will be sorted.

DRS H. I ran The_Bat! (Registered) prior to the 1.4x releases and my
DRS registration codes were always 3 lines with the 1st two being
DRS generated at Rit's end based on the 3rd which was supplied by me to
DRS Ritlab's at registration. I may stand corrected here but I don't ever
DRS remember receiving a 1 line registration.

If you buy it from somewhere other than Ritlabs direct (as I did from
Amazon.co.uk) the serial number that comes with it is a single number,
which has to be entered onto the Ritlabs auth reg page. (Maxim sent me
the link in e-mail). This then generates the 3 line keys that are
needed for registration of upgraded versions.
