The forms in version 3.5 were significantly changed. The new forms
work only with certificates (yet - PGP will be supported in the next
release) and they are in HTML format now.

To create a new form:

1. Prepare HTML form in any HTML editor capable to create/edit forms.
2. Use the Options|Submission Forms menu command
3. Click Add
4. Choose the form name and the file it will be stored in (you may use
the Browse button)
5. Click the Load button and select the HTML form you've prepared.
6. Configure the form parameters and save the form.

Well, the new form system is quite cryptic in some aspects, but it's
now possible to create and maintain forms more easily.

I dont know... It was always active for me. I am using v3.0.1.33 now.
But I dont think, that it should not work in v3.5.

Hmm... Second thought. Maybe it is inactive out as you dont have a PGP
key in your PGP depot. PGP is needed for Submission forms.

So, make a PGP key and come back with the result!

But, do you have some sample TBC files? Will they work if I import one?
I need some sample TBC files to see.

Is it really necessary for them to be signed with RFC-1991 PGP
implementation? Can we make them "clear"?

J> I still have no idea how to use them. I see them in the submission forms

J> Am I doing something wrong?

from a mail to this list I wrote in January 1999:

Example: you want to provide the service "wish list".
So we declare you the server ;-)

The server has to write a form, put it in a TB mail and sign it
with PGP. He then sends this mail containing the signed form to
all clients (all those subscribers of this list willing to add
to your wish list).

Each client has to fire up TB, receive this mail, check the
digital signature (using your PGP key) and then store the
form in a file with a .TBC extension, e.g. TBWISH.TBC.
The client now adds this form to his list of submission forms.
(This is where we do not succeed, so the following is
what I think how it should work)

Now the client (e.g. me) wants to send you an entry for the
wish list. To do that I start TB and "call" your form
TBWISH.TBC. TB presents me an input window (formatted according
to your form specification) to enter my wishes and, when I press
OK, sends my input to you in a special formatted mail signed
with my PGP key.

You, the server, receive this mail, verify my digital signature
and handle the data. Because the data was automatically
formatted by the client's (my) TB, you can easily write a
program
to process the data (i.e. add my wishes to the wish list).

Because PGP was used
- I knew that this form really comes from you and not for
example
from MS trying to steel our good ideas ;-)
- you know that the wish real was from me and can send me the
donation for my great ideas :-)

Does this make things clearer? Now we only have to make it work
;-)

just put the pgp path to whereever your keyrings are and the bin file
and run key manager and import that rit lab key.
Sounds like a good idea if some people could validate it as its not

CGI programs are usually written in PERL (which is basically, source
code recompiled every time the program is executed). So, with this in
mind, one can quickly make up scripts which will execute CGI on the
server side cgi-bin file on either NT or Unix. Therefore, forms and
validation, submit buttons from the email, can be programmed using
PERL in the FORM ACTION to = GET or POST practically anything, like a
complete web page, or additional info from a database on the server
side back to the client's. Much of what you see on the net, even in
terms of complete web pages, after you click on something is basically
just a return web page which was processed by PERL on the cig-bin
server side, and then sent back to the client using CGI. PERL
processes it on the server side. IF TB is capable of utilizing PERL,
theoretically, this could be very powerful stuff here, far more than
what it first appears. The actual email could call a web page in PERL
from the server, based on client input - all from a form which was
sent by email. PERL is very powerful and there are very few
limitations as a language.

T> That's email related; web pages aren't.

Have heard that V2 will have the option of running PERL scripting.
Wow, now that opens up many possibilities for my cgi-bin folder
doesn't it? Can send out via email, verifiable forms or buttons to
press for database entry, to prospects for census data of a product,
service, or whatever, have it return a web page(s), for a thank you,
other informational data that is requested, any and all kinds of good
things. Can literally run web pages using CGI and PERL scripting off
my computer by just sending out email. Possibilities are endless :-)
Really cool stuff.

Will Version 2 have PERL and CGI capabilities? Forms, buttons, web
page creation can be very quickly made up this way.
