Voyager re-install problem
Hello, I was having problems with my Voyager set up so I cleared the stick and re installed. I put in my registration number and then got my token from the web site and put it in but, each time I now try to open the programme, I get the following dialogue box. The token has been unplugged. Exit The Bat! Voyager loosing changes? (answering NO requires pluging the token back in to continue work with The Bat! Voyager) Apart from re-installing some of the deleted files I'm stuck. Any advice please from more knowledgeable users? I also seem to remember reading somewhere that a different token had to be used but can't for the life of me find any message referring to that subject, certainly not any subject concerning an *unplugged* token. -- Regards, Richard | The Bat! 3.86.8 ALPHA (beta) with POP3 account AntispamSniper 1.7.0.8 | Windows XP (build 2600) version 5.1 Service Pack 2 | F-Prot AV, Outpost Firewall Pro, Spysweeper, Adaware, SpyBot | CPU: Athlon 1.09 Ghz | RAM: 1024 MB Holiday in France: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/lazyhomes/holiday.html Current version is 3.85.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: Voyager re-install problem
Hello, To reply to myself, I've tried installing on another USB stick but with the same results. Because of this I can't do anything to alter settings in Voyager because I have to select YES in the dialogue box and, of course, everything closes down. If I select NO then the box just stays and I can't do anything either. I'm off for two weeks holiday next week so do very much hope that someone might have even the slightest idea of what is wrong. -- Regards, Richard | The Bat! 3.86.8 ALPHA (beta) with POP3 account AntispamSniper 1.7.0.8 | Windows XP (build 2600) version 5.1 Service Pack 2 | F-Prot AV, Outpost Firewall Pro, Spysweeper, Adaware, SpyBot | CPU: Athlon 1.09 Ghz | RAM: 1024 MB Holiday in France: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/lazyhomes/holiday.html Current version is 3.85.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: Voyager re-install problem
Hello Richard, I have just installed Voyager onto my USB stick and can only refer to what I noticed during that process. I hope it'll be of some help. I understand that you have 'cleared the stick' and reinstalled Voyager onto it, and 'put in my registration number and then got my token from the web site and put it in'. Despite this it seems your Voyager is not accepting your token and continues to pop up for one. When I got my token from the web site it said I had four more activations to go. Do you recall that message? Is yours decreasing now that you are reinstalling and got your token from the web site to point out you've been using a new activation? I saved my token to a text file so I could use it in a later instance in case I needed to reinstall (preventing using my future activations), BUT I did not fail to notice that the token uses a 'token serial number' that is based on the file system type of the USB stick and its volume ID. My token serial number was like FAT- (can be FAT32-) This is my guess at what your situation is all about: You have formatted your USB stick and as a consequence its volume ID has changed and now your token activation is no longer valid as the volume ID is based on the token serial number. Please Note that I assume that you saved your token and used this number instead of reactivating through Internet your new installation. This is what you can do: Download VolumeID v2.0 from Mark Russinovich (Whow. That is new to me: He is at Microsoft now!!! ) http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/FileAndDisk/VolumeId.mspx After you format your USB stick run this little tool to give it back its previous volume ID. Make sure you formatted to the right file system type as well (defaults to FAT is my experience). Now reinstalling Voyager with your original registration number and the token you have saved should be working smoothly. Most probably you never noted down your original volume ID, so you'll need to reactivate your new installation again through the internet and get a new token. This time you write down your token serial number as well. -- Best regards, Gerrit Kiers Using The Bat! v3.85.03 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 Current version is 3.85.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

On both the USB sticks I've tried it on, I only deleted the old files. I haven't changed the formatting in any way and the disc volume name is still the same on both of them. GK When I got my token from the web site it said I had four more GK activations to go. Do you recall that message? I do indeed. This time I copied the activation key so that I could use it without decreasing my number of activations left.
