Re: thawte Certificate Installation Problems
Hello Colin, I just imported my certificates into The Bat ( 5 of them) with no problems. I am runnung win2000 though, not XP. I don't have one for the email account for this list, but I'll get one and try it. Paul CG 1) Installed a Thawte e-mail certificate but it does not work. In CG following the import into Bat the entire Edit Personal Certificates CG functionality in Accounts, Preferences vanished completely! CG 2) As a result of (1) I tried to uninstall and reinstall Bat but uninstall CG would not work! I deleted all the files I could find and then reinstalled. CG It was a messy install and whilst the Bat is now working I have no templates CG for my mails. CG I'm running Windows XP. CG Any ideas folks? Re: thawte Certificate Installation Problems
Hello Colin, an aside note. I went back to Thawte to get a new certificate for this email account, and I got most of the way through the process until it got to the part about generating the key pair. It gave me an error ( I forget the text 3 words) but basically I tried all the different types of encoding and got the same error. I had to EXIT from the PGPKeys tray program, THEN it worked. for those that want to get their own free thawte certificate, here is their home page: https://www.thawte.com/contents.html ( look under personal certificates) you basically sign up, and request a certificate, they send you the signup info by email. I have certificates for each email ID I use. Thawte also mentioned that they are discontinuing PGP support. later, Paul Wednesday, April 10, 2002, 4:29:17 PM, you wrote: CG A couple of problems this end: CG 1) Installed a Thawte e-mail certificate but it does not work. -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: MD5 Thanks, Paul - I'll try again. I've moved up to Bat 1.60 now anyway. I'm pretty new to this encryption/signing stuff so please excuse my ignorance but what is the significance of Thwate not supporting PGP Regards Colin -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: 2.6 iQCVAwUAPLW5F6na/SG6FYvxAQG2igQAkOd0nkMImDM74dnDQGGfnMr0PyeTUJme NDW+1KR8KcR3zEErqg9DsZHDq3au+YQ1ZNcdYuA0w0zs6938nLmSdeDPvSIQFJnr OUYKHKXIgV+TC12rOf6cTjtQjjkGlWshJ0UZV+z5r9yme7huEHGW8osXzck02Prd 9TfY2YZC4k4= =1n9Z -END PGP SIGNATURE- smime.p7s Description: S/MIME Cryptographic Signature

Re[2]: thawte Certificate Installation Problems
I see, Peter, but with V1.60 of Bat now being able to create its own s/mime certificates is there any point in continuing with PGP or using Thwate, Verisign or any other certificates. Thanks Colin smime.p7s Description: S/MIME Cryptographic Signature
