Here's a printing problem for you Word-experts. Currently, I'm working on a document approximately 100 or so pages in length. I used a section break to split the first 8 pages from the rest of the book. The first section (Foreword) contains the title page, TOC and a few more pages of technical data and uses Roman numerals in the page footer. Total length = 8 pages (or viii). The second section (book proper) begins with Arabic number 1 in the footer and contains a series of chapters which are really the meat of the book. The first chapter in the book proper is also 8 pages long. When I attempt to print out only pages 1-8 (of the book proper), I get i thru viii AND pages 1 thru 8. If I attempt to print pages 1 thru 7 or anything less, I get only those pages from the Foreword (i through vii). Of course, when I print pages 9 thru anything else, only those pages from the book proper are printed (obviously because there are no Foreword pages ix and up). In the Word print menu, I checked the Print what and Options drop-downs and none of the choices apply. (The Properties button, of course, applies to only the printer itself, in this case a Canon Imagerunner 7095, but it doesn't matter because it happens with all of the other printers in the printer room anyway). How can I print ONLY pages 1 thru 8 (or anything less) without getting the Foreword (Roman numeralled) pages as well? I'm sure there's a few keystrokes I'm not doing, but what are they? And lots of trees out there would like to know as well. -- Ken in Atlanta (Salary survey? No thanks. Hi, Ken :-) How can I print ONLY pages 1 thru 8 (or anything less) without getting the Foreword (Roman numeralled) pages as well? You have to specify the section number, along with the page numbers. IIRC, the start page is p1s1-p8s1. Char James-Tanny ~ JTF Associates, Inc. ~ http://www.helpstuff.com -- Please send follow-up questions to the list. (Inquiries sent off-list may not be seen.) IIRC, you can also just specify the section, choosing to print s1, s2, and so on. Re: [TCP] (no subject)
Well, maybe we're getting closer. FWIW, neither section has been formally named or designated as Section 1 or Section 2. When I entered page range p2s2-p4s2, I got pages ii thru iv (from the foreword section of the book). I'll keep trying if more ideas come through. -- Ken -- Original message from Char James-Tanny [EMAIL PROTECTED]: -- Hi, Ken :-) How can I print ONLY pages 1 thru 8 (or anything less) without getting the Foreword (Roman numeralled) pages as well? Ken, use the page numbers you see in the status bar, not the page numbers you told Word to print.
