IMO, you can just use your provenpackager rights for making such changes
yourself. It doesn't affect anything except LXDE and you are the LXDE
maintainer in Fedora.

Fwd: [Fedora QA] #115: F14 netinstall failing

2010-08-09 Thread Mark Rooks
Hi All

I am still getting a failure on (what I think is) the latest RC for
F14 from here http://serverbeach1.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/14-Alpha.RC2/

I seem to be able to reproduce on a standard qemu VM. The error screen
print is attached. The error occurs towards the end of package
installation in anaconda and seems to be python related.

I shutoff the VM now and probably should have tried to get another
terminal to get some debug, sorry about that. If anyone can help me
with the how, I'd be happy to supply more logging...

I am going for a DVD download as the netinstall takes so long across
the internet for me, I'm giving up. So if nothing else this is a FYI.

There are two attachments, each for a separate install failure.w to
proceed, I am new to this!

Lastly, thanks to Hurry for the advice on ho

Cheers

Mark

Netinstall(boot.iso) as well as minimal install have been covered in our

Thanks, metabox. I'm closing this ticket. Please discuss such problems in

At the *risk* of being the boy who cried "at risk", the above milestones
are subject to a 1 week slip unless the following is met prior to the
go/no-go meeting.

 1. There are no OPEN blocker bugs --

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/showdependencytree.cgi?id=611990&hide_resolved=1
 2. The test matrix is complete --
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Category:Fedora_14_Alpha_RC_Test_Results

We're hoping, and working, for a heroic effort to resolve the remaining
firstboot systemd integration bug. That will be followed by a RC#3, and
new test matrices. In the meantime, you can help by adding results to
the RC#2 test matrix now. The more results we have, the more confidence
we'll have that RC#3 will be F-14-Alpha.

Thanks,
James

polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1.desktop has "NotShowIn=KDE;" but
lacks LXDE. I requested this on the desktop list more than half a year
ago, but so far nothing has happened. Therefor I opened
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=622580 now.

Thanks for the heads-up. I have fixed this in

Thanks for testing. Looks like something LXDE team would like to know
about. I guess the LXDE spin kickstart should be adjusted to not include
polkit-gnome, if that's practical?

No joy. I tried reinstalling bash and even copying /root from a clean
install of Fedora.

The joys of rawhide. Guess I will have to reinstall

Thanks for the suggestion.

Will give it another go when these are pushed to updates-testin,
as it affects all non-physical installs (bfo, netinst etc.)

2010-08-09 Thread Jóhann B. Guðmundsson
All installation media should use systemd 6-1 or newer and
selinux-policy 3.8.8-11 or newer otherwise users will hit bug 621200 and
will need to turn selinux off ( selinux=0 setenforce wont cut it )
remove systemd and systemd-units ( rpm -e --nodeps ) and reinstall
systemd with release 6-1+ reboot and let the system auto relabel it self.

Trying to update F14/RC1 to F14/RC2 by the F14/RC2 DVD

2010-08-09 Thread Joachim Backes
Hi F14 testers,

I'm having a F14/RC1 (i686)running, and now I burned the F14/RC2/DVD
(i686), booted from that DVD with saying "update an existing system". I
answered the question
for the partition to update (is the F14/RC1). Then I'm asked "select
data storage device" and "install target device" (why this, if I want to
update only ???), then pressing the "next" button, but nothing happens.
If I switch to some console window and switching back to the X11 window,
it becomes blanked, and all hangs.

Anybody made similar experiences?

RC2 LXDE spin two polkit invocations

2010-08-09 Thread Steven I Usdansky
Installed lxde-x86_64-20100806.15.iso, and everything seems to work.
However, upon starting X (from runlevel 3) I get the following error:

Remote Exception invoking
org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1.Authority.RegisterAuthenticationAgent
() on /org/freedesktop/PolicyKit1/Authority at name
org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1:
org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1.Error.Failed: An authentication agent
already exists for session Cannot register authentication agent

Looking in /etc/xdg/autostart, I see two invocations of polkit:
  lxpolkit.desktop
  polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1.desktop
which come from
  lxpolkit-0.1.0-0.1.20100402git5087383.fc14.x86_64
  polkit-gnome-0.96-2.fc14.x86_64
respectively. Eliminating the latter seems to be the fix

grub problem in F14

2010-08-09 Thread Joachim Backes
Hi,

I have 3 SATA disks on my box with 3 installed systems:

/dev/sda with windows7 on /dev/sda1, /dev/sdb for data and /dev/sdc for
2 Fedora systems: /dev/sdb5 with F13 and /dev/sdb7 with a fresh
installed F14/Rc1.

My F14 runs properly. Now I wanted to install under F14 grub again on
the boot disk /dev/sda (grub-install /dev/sda), and it seemed to be OK.
But if trying to boot, Win7 no more could be booted (no boot record found).

Booting back to F13 and reinstalling grub with the identical
grub-install command and booting again: Win7 could be booted.

/boot/grub/grub.conf are identical in F13 and F14.

Now I found out, that the usage of *--force-lba* in grub-install
produced a clean bootloader on /dev/sda, so I could boot Win7 with a
boot loader generated in F14.

What I not understand is the fact, that under F13 --force-lba is *not
needed*, but seems to be needed on F14.

My board: ASRock ConRoe1333-DVI/H

Kind regards
